Twins
I think the HFEA website may have some info on this. If not Diane may do?
Me I had identical twins girls from one embryo❤️ Wouldn't had it any other way xx
It's extremely unusual to happen: only 1%'of twins are identical, and for ivf the chances are even smaller, particularly if you have a 5day transfer as they most often split before... so Kim, your twins are super special!
I think there was a lady on here who got two sets of identical twins (yes, quadruplets) from a double transfer. Even more unusual!
Yes I've seen a few people that it's spilt for my friend had a double transfer and was pregnant with triplets so both eggs stuck and one spilt and that was 5 day transfer xxx
I've not had ivf . But was on chlomid and metformin and pregnant with twins x
Hi romaluna2015. Getting pregnant using Clomid carries a 5% chance of a twin/triplet pregnancy. With IVF one embryo can split into a twin pregnancy once back in the womb. And indeed we had a lovely lady who had 2 blastocyst embryos transferred, and both split into twins, so she had quads born very prematurely, but they all survived after weeks of intensive care. When these embryos "split", there is a greater risk of twin to twin transfusion syndrome, which can be lethal. Google it, as it would take me ages to explain!! First quads from IVF in 21 years of working here! Amazing! Diane
