EC tomorrow eeek!: Getting nervous and... - Fertility Network UK
EC tomorrow eeek!
it's not as bad as you think! I didn't feel a thing. I was quite achy after though but nothing that some painkillers and a hot water bottle can't fix! Good luck 🍀 Hope you get lots of eggs!xx
I had such a lovely sleep under the sedation. Especially since I had not been sleeping well on all the drugs. Look forward to that! Any pain afterwards was less than period pain for me, paracetamol and a hot water bottle will keep it at bay xx
Thanks! How long did you take to recover? I have to at the clinc early so nothing like a morning nap! Lol
First time round I kept falling asleep all afternoon afterwards! I couldn't keep my eyes open. Second time round they gave me different sedation drugs and I was alert immediately I woke up in the clinic.
As I said, pain no worse than my period so no physical recovery needed really. However you can't drive that day or the next so you are basically on enforced rest which is a good thing!
My consultant was very definite that I needed that day and the next off work. I rested up and was fine, perhaps was fine because I made sure I didn't do too much!
Best of luck, I know how you feel it's exciting but nerve racking at the same time x
I went with my daughter for her EC last Friday, she was nervous but afterwards she said she loved the sedation as she went to sleep so fast! She was back in the side room with me within 20 minutes and after a cuppa each and some biscuits she walked out the hospital with no problems at all. She was a bit sore for 2-3 days but I've been staying at her house looking after her; she had an ET yesterday which she said was similar to a smear.
Good luck, she says it really isn't as bad as you think it's going to be xxx
Thank you for your message! I'll look forward to the cuppa afterwards! I feel much better knowing what everyone has said.
Wishing your daughter lots of luck with the 2ww, everything crossed x
I had pain meds only and it just felt stingy. Afterwards i was bloated, tight and sore. Think there was a problem with my right ovary still hasn't settled. Im assuming this is rare. Hope it goes well!
Thanks for your reply, good luck with your journey x
Hi I'm new to this and don't understand all the abbreviations so please bare with me! It's our first attempt at IVF which we are doing privatly as I am 43 and had EC on Mon under local anesthetic as I was scared of sedation having reacted badly to GA a few years ago...I can't say it wasn't uncomfortable (but it was bareable) and we got 6 eggs (2 of which fertilised) but then I fainted on way home which was probably due to low blood pressure! Didn't get any cramping as expected but I've had a lot of discomfort in my tummy all week which feels like trapped wind (or a bad stitch?) and really hurts when I cough or laugh under my ribs? (Luckily booked whole week off work as haven't moved far from the sofa) Anyway went to GP yesterday as was bit worried and they did some bloods and internal exam but all seemed ok so was a relief not OHSS. Got ET booked on sat morning and hope to have 2 blastocysts so fingers crossed they are both good enough to implant.
Good luck to everyone on your IVF journeys... 🤞🏼Be good to share others experiences along the way x
Hi, thank you for the message. It is all gone ok, the nurses and team where all brilliant and made me feel very relaxed. They got 8 eggs and said there is abit of fluid on endromentium so will have to have a scan before ET. I'm not sure what theist means but nurse didn't seem too concerned. Been told to continue drinking plenty of water.
The actual sedation but is not even that bad. I didn't feel a thing and was awake before I knew it enjoying s much needed cuppa and Bourbon biscuit!
Best of luck with you ET tomorrow! Fingers crossed for you!
So glad all went well for you today! 8 is brilliant amount hopefully you will have several that have fertilised in the morning eek! So nerve wracking but very exciting! Hope your feeling ok and recovering well good luck! 🤞🏼x
Thank you! I feel relieved the EC is done as that has always seemed like a big milestone to me! It is very nerve racking thinking of the phone call tomorrow! Good luck in your journey!
hey let us know how it goes thinking of you xx
The worst bit I had last time was actually getting the cannula in for the sedation - it took 3 attempts!!! After that I felt nothing - had a great sleep - the most amazing tea & toast ever!!!! I was lucky in that I had no real pain afterwards. The ET is just like a smear test although it has to be done on a full bladder so can get quite uncomfortable if they're running late!! Hope all has gone well today xx
Hi thanks for the message. It has all gone ok, really not as back as o thought with the sedation. They got 8 eggs which I think is good, I'm 35. The cannula was worse but for me too. I've got the next two weeks off so relexing on sofa and going to watch season three of the affair!
Great news - 8 is great!! Hopefully they all behave & do what they're supposed to do!!! My second scan didn't go as well this morning - very painful as one of my ovaries decided to play a very horrible game of hide & seek - very uncomfortable!! Back again for hopefully, the 3rd & final scan with EC then next Wednesday!! Enjoy the Affair - never watched it - might add it to my list!! x
I didn't even know until my first scan that ovarian float around! It's good that you having all the scans and it know the follicles are growing! When is your final scan?
Definitely recommend the affair! Not sure sure if it is still on sky but I ordered the DVD on eBay! Get them ordered ! It's a good one to take your mind off things!
