Urgh! Just a bit of a whinge really. And a long one (you've been forewarned!).
My 2WW started off just fine, but by the end of day 5, in Friday, my tummy was puffed out and I was having terrible cramps - pretty much every area of my abdomen from the top to the bottom especially my stomach. It was so bad my husband wanted to go to ER (not helped by me melodramatically crying out at 4 am "I just can't go on any more ...!"). We called my clinic's emergency number instead. They weren't worried - said it is likely to be the progesterone suppositories inflaming already inflamed insides given I had so many (19) eggs collected, or mild late OHSS, or possibly pregnancy hormones which have caused this to flare up. Obviously I'm desperately hoping that is the last reason but trying to not get my hopes up. I've been told to self manage at home - usual advice of lots of water, protein and go to ER if I struggle to breathe etc. Oh and paracetamol which really isn't helping.
Anyway, feeling pretty sorry for myself. This is far more painful than after EC - it varies in severity but at its worst it hurts to do anything but lay flat on my back (although I have also been told I have to try to move around a bit). It is all a bit rubbish really - I have loads on at work this week but am in no fit state to leave the house let alone go to work. I will have to work from home - through the pain.
I just didn't know this could happen well after EC and ET - I thought I was over the worst! I'd never heard of people flaring up this late. If this is all because I have a little passenger inside that bloated belly then it is okay, but if it gets to OTD on Thursday and there is nothing and I have suffered through all this pain ...
The things we put ourselves through.

I had exactly this. 15 eggs and started about 5 days post transfer, getting worse as time progressed. Got it checked 9 days post transfer and was mild OHSS due to... pregnancy hormones on top of all the artificial stuff. Don't despair, hopefully it's for the same good reason! Can you get a blood test tomorrow or Tuesday as they'll be able to detect pregnancy then? I was told to self manage with tons of water, protein and salt. Good luck!
Congratulations! And thanks. I hope that is the reason for me too. But the pain seems to come and go (the bloating is pretty constant) which of course has me coming up with all sorts of other catastrophic reasons why this is happening! My clinic didn't even suggest going to get a blood test - just told me to wait it out until Thursday and do and OTC one then, but I might call them tomorrow and press to see if I can get a blood test. At least then if it is just the drugs and I'm not pregnant I can stop the drugs and get some relief.
Oh dear Hun. I'm so sorry you're feeling so rough. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will start to feel better soon and that your pain is due to your embie making themself at home. xxx
Hi hun I had cramping and af pains from about day 3 and I've still got them now two weeks later, on / off all the time along with twinges. Feels like slots going on but it's a pity we can't actually see what's happening lol hope you feel better soon xx
Hi London7. Oh dear! Sounds like your ovaries are still a bit active! Try and rest when you can, and drink lots of water. You can take some paracetamol for pain, unless something else has been prescribed for you. No anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen. Keep an eye on your urine output, and if it reduces a lot, then get checked out. Likewise if you get any chest pain or breathlessness. Fingers crossed all soon settles down for you. Thinking of you. Diane
Thanks Diane. I have just come back from the clinic where they did a scan (there is fluid in the ovaries but it hasn't moved up into the abdomen, which I'm told is a good sign) and they have taken some blood. But it was a pretty unpleasant visit - the doctor told me off for not going to A&E on Friday (even though the reason i didn't was the out of hours emergency phone number nurse told me not to!). She also told me that I seemed fine today (I am a lot better today)so she didn't know why I had come in today... the whole experience has just left me feeling extremely low. Especially as she told me that it could take "weeks" for this to go away, regardless of whether or not I'm pregnant. I have just had enough of it all.
Hi London7. I'm so pleased you have finally got a positive answer as to what has been going on, and I must say it confirmed my thoughts. I feel that the out-of-hours nurse gave you the wrong information, as you could have ended up very poorly with a hospital admission. It's alright for that doctor "telling you off" but you did what you were told to do, so perhaps he/she should be speaking to the nurse! Still, you're back home now, so try not to let it get you down and put your feet up for a bit. I assume they told you to keep up with the fluid intake for a few days, just in case the trapped fluid decides to escape! Daft part about it all is that all of this won't have affected your little embie at all, so fingers crossed he/she is still holding on in there. Sending you some BIG gentle hugs. Diane xx
Sounds like you are having a bit of a mare! I hope you're feeling a bit better now. Thinking of you and wishing you lots of luck. Thanks for your support today - it really helped. Here if you want to rant at all xx
Thank you - that is really kind of you, especially after all you've been through in the last couple of days. I hope you are holding up as well as you can and looking after yourself xx
Sorry you’re suffering so much when it’s a rubbish time to be dealing with as it is! I hope your pain starts to subside and really hope it’s due to a BFP xxxx
Bless you lovely! I felt similar to this in between collection and transfer, just shocked by how painful my tum was. Hope you get your BFP on test day, to make all the suffering worthwhile x
Hi, this is a zombie thread! I was indeed pregnant and have just put my now 10-month old daughter down for her morning nap. Best of luck to all of you x
Oh wow! I’m normally so good at checking dates!!! So pleased to hear that you were not going through pain for nothing and have your baby! Amazing!!!!!! Congrats xxxx
Thanks! It was actually quite nice to see this and be reminded of the journey we went on. It was so awful and painful at the time, and yet now all of that has just faded away. I didn’t even remember posting this. There is a quote I really like (I don’t know the author): the only way to get through hell is to keep going. And it is so true. Either you get what you want (for me, our daughter), and forget the hell. Or you get something else or find some new way of living. But either way - you get through hell in the end. You just have to keep going. XX
