Timings

Hi all, been in for scan today and have another on Monday. Nurse said it looks like Thursday or Friday next week for EC, in the morning. I'm a little confused about timings and plans. Can I just check? EC day, no driving right? But what about transfer day? I'm under impression this is similar to a smear test, so nothing too taxing? I think our clinic does transfer in the afternoon, and I appreciate that lots of people take loads of time off work but my job is part time and fairly easy going so not really going to take time off after transfer. Sorry to go into the details but my husband doesn't drive and our clinic is far away so we're just trying to plan taxis etc. Thanks so much for any help xx

Hiya. That's right. No driving after EC because of the sedation drugs but you can drive after transfer. It is really similar to a smear except you have a full bladder. All I did was try to make sure I didn't wee on them all. 😂 All the best. xxx

I think you need a full bladder as it's easier to see on the ultra sound as it will be an abdominal scan rather than trans vaginal. I've been told I need to drink 2 pints 1 hour prior to transfer - which should take up to 10/15 mins, but each clinic might be different x

Hiya! Transfer is very much like a smear test and I went straight to work after and haven't had any time off as I have an office job.

Best of luck xx

Hi Lilli79. Most ladies take it nice and easy on egg collection day, due to the prodding and poking. Good to have a nice rest afterwards and start drinking plenty of water. Hopefully it will all go OK and you will be nicely sedated - and get a good result! Embryo transfer is usually just like having a smear done. maybe a little pulling, but shouldn't be painful. Some have a rest and some just carry on as normal without doing anything strenuous. Just wanted to wish you well with everything, and i will be thinking of you. Diane
