1st consultation!

Hi everyone 👋🏻 so just wandering really about next steps, we both had hiv hep tests and my husband will have his second semen test on Wednesday, we've been told once our test results have been received they will be sent to oxford where they will send us consent forms to sign and send back, we need to watch a video presentation via YouTube then we will get booked with oxford to commence treatment. We will have an initial consultation and then a planning appointment so basically what I'm wandering is will we get dates when we can start when we have initial appointment and when do any of you think they may start us? xx

Hi sounds like your almost there. Once you have had your appointments you will prob start from your next cycle. We was very lucky the day we had our consultant appointment was day 1 for me so I started 2 weeks after that. Good luck with everything xx

The consultant appointment went through all our medical history and tests etc which had been done to determine ivf. Ours was a male factor so that was discussed. The consultant then gave us the treatment plan he wanted us to use and explained it in full. All consent forms were checked. We then had an appointment the following week with a fertility nurse who explained the plan again and went through all the injections and how to do them. We also had to have blood tests again as hiv test has to be done within the last 3 months at our clinic. Hope this helps may be different at other clinics x

Oooh god I'm so excited but scared at the same time! When are you starting? I've had a mooch at your past posts it seems to have all gone quick this past month for you? Where are you having your treatment xx

I'm having mine at bourn hall. We our currently on our first cycle I had egg transfer on Friday so have to test on 30th march. I was exactly the Same just very anxious now. Did you get nhs funding? X

Wow that's so quick! How long ago did you have your initial appointment before nurse planning? Sorry to be a pain just waiting for things to start but got no dates lol! Aw I'll keep everything crossed for you, did you have ivf? xx

Our clinic book 3 appointment one each week for 3 weeks. The first was a seminar with other couples when they explain everything about the clinic. The next was the consultant appointment and I was Day1 in my cycle so that was 30th Jan, we saw the specialist nurse on 6th Feb and I started injections on 17th Feb. It had taken us 18months from our initial gp appointment to get to that point. That's ok ask away. Thank you x

Ok so we have to watch a video on YouTube so I'm assuming we don't need to go to oxford for that which is good lol I'm so hoping that when the consultant gets all test results she will book us within the next few weeks? xx

We're at Oxford and found everyone there to be fantastic. Just starting to down reg and feeling positive with the clinic. We have both commented that we feel good there. Hope you will feel the same. Xxx

I think we went for our first consultation in Nov followed by nurse appt in early Jan, then it's up to you when you start. I was busy with work so only started end Feb xx

Hi, we were at Oxford also and found everyone to be so lovely! From egg collection to transfer we both felt so at ease!

We were based in Swindon and just went to Oxford for the treatments.

Our planning appointment we went through all the paper work & consents and was given a list of booking dates (they are on the Oxford fertility website if you want a look). She discussed the drugs with us and basically said once we start our next period we had to call Oxford to book in for treatment.

The planning appointment was mid December, and we've just got our BFP so was all done within 3 months, long protocol.

Wow congratulations!! and thank you for replying hun I'm not sure when I can even start by them dates because I haven't had an appointment yet my husband has his second semen test on wed so hoping will get my initial appointment quite soon? xx
