Egg collection Monday πŸ™ petrified

β€’17 Replies

Hi hope all you lovely ladies are well,

I've got my 2nd egg collection Monday I'm petrified as my first egg collection I got a needle in the back of my hand with anaesthetists and drugs pumped into me, now I'm at a new clinic I've got a sedative to take before I go to bed Sunday and one to take Monday morning. They've said I just won't care Monday when I go for presudure ...... but I'm not so sure myself.

Has anyone had egg collection with with sort of sedation? And can you calm my nerves ? Xx

I did! Though I had nothing to compare it to as it was my first EC. I did feel a bit relaxed and quite tired. EC wasn't the nicest but it was totally doable! I'm a wimp and I got myself so worked up (hence the sedative tablets like you). Also I had the cannula in my arm not my hand. I was freaking about it being in the back of my 🀚

Ps they also let me have my headphones in to listen to music, I chose classical!

Thank you, I've got the option of my husband going in but I think I will cope better on my own ( I'm so independent lol) .

See I think I'd be relived if I had a cannula as that sounds like you get more drugs lol lol as I don't think I do from what they've said πŸ™.

I'm such a whimp also I will be sort of glad when it's all over

The drugs helps with pain relief and you'd not want to be without them. iI was fine after but in the evening when they'd worn off I was in a lot if pain. A lot of people don't seem to have a lot of pain after EC but I did so make sure you have tablets to take after and don't be surprised if you take a few days to get over it. Sorry don't mean to be all doom and gloom but it came as a shock to me how rough i was 'cos no one didn't really prepare me for it .

You be fine xx

I have had one before but they give me sedation on a drip ..... these tablets are suppose to be sedation .

I know my last egg collection I was in a lot of pain after I came home in slipper as couldn't bend over to tie shoes lol.

I'd rather have reality than sugar coated ..... they have not mentioned pain relief during procedure at all....... I'm just in pure panic mode πŸ™ I'm sat with a bottle of calms rescue remedy lol lol

I think it's different for everyone. I was not sedated and remember the whole procedure but didn't feel much. I said afterwards to my partner I was a bit disappointed it didn't take longer..?? and they didn't give me better drugs !! LOL I'm a bit strange!

My partner said I looked so relaxed after my mouth just hang open with my teeth exposed . I dread to think πŸ˜‚

xx

I certainly don't feel any effects with these tablets πŸ™ so hoping I don't feel much pain either ...... well time to go in x

Thanks diane I survived , once I got there and told clinic I was petrified they offered me a top up of drugs. Although it wasn't pleasant it was do able which was what one of the other ladies said . 8 eggs we got 😊.

It's amazing how much you can build something up in your head to be way worse than it is xx
