29, Single - About to start 1st journey of IVF with donor sperm & egg sharing. :D

Hey everyone,

I'm Claire, 29 & single from Corby, Northamptonshire.

I have just had my 1st consultation with CARE fertility. I have decided to go down the IVF donor sperm route with egg sharing included. I have a huge needle/medical involved phobia, but feeling ready for the challenge!

Would be great to hear from some like minded people! x

Thankyou! One thing I'm not is on my own. My family are super supportive & my mum is there with me every step of the way. I'm trying to calm down her excitement haha! really lucky in my circumstances. I can do this! Thankyou & good luck to you too x

I did ivf with egg sharing with care fertility I have a beautiful 23 month old daughter the lady I donated to has a daughter too I am single and had a sperm donor too good luck on your journey xxxxx I am booked in for december to do frozen embryo transfer so excited xxxx

Welcome to the sight, I really hope your journey is good.

I just wanted to say I am horrendous with needles and was petrified even the thought of having to do them, but my parter did them for me and I just didn't look, and I actually didn't feel a thing, I was so worried that I wouldn't have been able to got through with the injections but when your doing it so such a great ending I think that's what got me through.

Have you got anyone who will be able to do them for you? Xxx

Thanks so much for your lovely comment! Yes, my Mum is going to do them all & be there with me throughout absolutely everything! Very lucky. Just going for my pre treatment scan & blood test in 3 weeks ish is going to be hard for me. I'm not good in the whole medical environment, makes me feel faint.... BUT as you say, thinking of the end result.

It's so lovely to hear your positivity even in the same boat as me!

Hi Clare, Welcome aboard the IVF boat. I am also Single using a Sperm Donor and currently using my own Eggs but may need to go Donor Egg route soon too. wanted to wish you well and to agree that doing without partner but with family support just as good, I also have a great family and fab bunch of friends who are all behind me. My friend also was under CARE and single and due a baby Boy next month so fingers crossed...Lots of love Jackie x

Had same phobia, just look away and take a deep breath, think of the baby and you will get over it. I had 2 ivf s so got used to the needles in the end. Mine was in my belly and thighs. It's bearable....

I've just had my first IUI fail I actually did two needles myself so next attempt I will do them all myself. Sooo much of an achievement for me. I passed out at my blood test at the clinic but hey ho! Did your 2nd attempt of IVF work? x

why did you opt for egg sharing considering you are 29.

What do you mean why did I opt for egg sharing? I didn't do IVF in the end. I'm attempting IUI for a few tries first. However I feel Egg sharing is a lovely thing to do considering I'm healthy enough, I have my age & health on my side.
