Thank you, we still can't quite believe it and feel very lucky. We have to wait until Tuesday for our "12 week" scan so I think hopefully it will seem more real after that.

I had long. I didn't find the injections etc too bad but know some people suffer with them!

What stage are you at? I hope it goes well for you xx

Eeee I bet you's cant, but i bet you's are so excited!

This is going to be the most exciting Christmas for you's.. You will have to keep me updated on you process :)

Wow.. not many people on here seem to have had long everyone ive spoken to apart from yourself is short.

No injections arent to bad to be honest im just a bit bruised.

On my 11th Day of Busereline Acetate.

Got My Scan 2nd November then I start Menopur Injections until 14th November aswell as the Busereline.

On the 14th i also take HCG injection that morning.

So far my EC will be on 16th.

Can i ask you did you take a lot of time off work and also what did you cut out eating and drinking wise?

I had bad bruises too, luckily they aren't visible to others... mine were all in my thighs.

I was lucky as it was my summer holiday (I'm a teacher) so I was off work , with the exception of popping in for a few hours on exam results day, for 2 weeks following collection which worked out great. I did try to keep busy though, I had a little walk everyday and went to Body Balance for gentle excercise, I was driving myself mad just trying to relax. I also had my best friends hen party which was a 200 mile drive in the middle of the 2 week wait... that was a little stressful but luckily didn't impact negatively upon the result.

I didn't drink any alcohol from the very start and tried to drink loads of water and peppermint tea to help the bloating. Food wise I tried to just be healthy, I'm vegetarian so have lots of nuts for protein and green veg for iron... I also take the pregnacare supplement. I did drink fresh pineapple juice and had some Brazil nuts just incase that theory is correct but think I had it more before egg collection as I was a bit confused about when was best. I did cut out unpasteurised cheeses and raw egg just incase but the nurse said not to worry about that until a positive result is given. X

Hi Lucyxox

Wow that was so conveinant for you!

Did you chose to do the injections in your thighs? just i have been told i can do them in my thighs or my stomach?

Me and my partner arent big drinkers anyway as we are rubbish at it lol so i cant even remeber when i had my last drink to be honest!

I was thinking about having time off from the day of egg collection until a week after ET so about 12 days all together gosh i havent a clue what i will do as im always rushing about and busy so i wonder if painting would be to stressful lol

Yes i drink a lot of water between 1 and half litres to 2 litres a day is this enough? im also taking pregnacare and folic acid

I just want to do everything so right im frightened i'll trip up somewhere xxxxxxxxxxxx

Try not to panic... it's sounds like you're doing everything right.

The nurse advised the thigh as it's easier, I had an injectapen... it was amazing and made it so much easier for me!

I thought about doing painting but worried a little about the paint fumes (probably silly of me).

Xx

Wow Lucy that's awesome news. We are going through this process to. Immasuming once they told you how many eggs wer goidvenough tomoroceed, thy asked how many you would like to put back in. My wife is 38 and they had suggested that based on her age, IF wevwer to two or more good ones, they would "suggest" usibgvtei. But there's are risks involved, but on the flip side, it coujd mean multiple oregrancy.

How is your pregnancy going?

Feel free to inbox me Lucy

Thanks

Hi,

I had 14 eggs, 11 fertilised, but only 2 were looking reasonable 2dp egg collection so they said they would do a 3dt. As neither of the two were particularly strong and I didn't have any to freeze, the embryologist and consultant both said they would put two back and that the risk of twins was minimal. I was initially told I would only have 1 put back but fully trusted the clinic and the staff there so was more than happy to take their advise and am obviously very pleased that I did.

Good luck to you and your wife.

I'm 38 and ttc for four years before treatment started. I've done long protocol twice of ICSI and it has worked both times. First time 3 day transfer but sadly miscarried at 10 weeks. Second time about 10 months later with 5 day transfer and currently 18 weeks pregnant. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Good luck xx

Hi Daisy14,

Aww Im sorry for you loss the first time round must have been really hard for you.. xX

But how lucky you must feel now after all that waiting..its fantastic!!

im On my 11th Day of Busereline Acetate.

Got My Scan 2nd November then I start Menopur Injections until 14th November aswell as the Busereline.

On the 14th i also take HCG injection that morning.

So far my EC will be on 16th.

Is this the same kind of thing you did?

Can i ask you did you take a lot of time off work and also what did you cut out eating and drinking wise?

Hi!

Yes this sounds really similar to my treatment both times. I did find both times that EC was a few days later than planned to see if my smaller follicles could peak in size, but otherwise it ran to schedule.

I ate and drank pretty normally and cut out alchohol and caffeine completely. Tried to be healthy in general, but had the odd chocolate fix! The second time I really upped my protein intake as I'd read that can help egg quality. So more eggs, a protein shake for breakfast and just making more protein choices than carbs. The second time I did have more eggs collected and more fertilised, could be a coincidence tho!

Work wise I took my first day off for EC then stayed off until transfer then had another week off then back to work. The second week of the 2ww I was glad of the distraction. At that point I also made my diet pregnancy friendly.

Having been in this process for a while I have seen lots of different things work for different people in this group. I think the golden rule is to look after yourself both physically and emotionally. Be super kind to yourself! Xxx

hi daisy14

Yeh i haven't had a drink since i cant remember maybe june/july which doesn't really both me because me and my partner don't really drink anyway because we are terrible at it ha!

I normally have herbal tea which is caffeine free mostly but i have had a few cups of coffee lately only because my nurse said it was okay, i keep getting different advise from on here to what they say at my clinic which is confusing!!

So im just going to give up caffeine completely then there is no ifs or buts lol

My nurse also said my partner could drink protein shakes because it affects his sample, so is it just me who needs all the protein??

Im so confused ha!

but i think i will defiantly follow your advise and have time off from egg collection until week after embyro transfer as im normally always rushing around and doing things!!

So tell me more about you, when are you due and how excited are you both :) xxxxxxxx

Daisy14 in reply to CH91

I'm not sure about men and protein! To be honest I don't think it will do any harm and if you eat together just have lots of chicken and fish etc! You will find SO much advice around tho, I think as long as you are sensible it's all good. Listen to your clinic first and foremost! Remember people get pregnant all the time without any of these precautions!!

I cut out caffeine as I used to drink LOADS! It was the only way so I had lots of decaf tea which I'm used to now.

I'm due on the 22/3/17. I am hugely blessed and grateful, but not found it easy and have been very anxious. Getting past the date of the previous mc helped, then suffered with hyperemesis (extreme sickness) which I'm only just coming out of now. Both myself and hubby are very nervous of getting excited after being so long having this as a dream. 20 week scan in a few weeks will help I hope. Blessed, but anxious sums it up!!

One step at a time lovely, hope you're doing ok on the buserelin? Good luck 🍀 Xxx

Hi, my first round icsi (long protocol) collected 13 eggs, 1 survived and was implanted. I got a positive result but sadly miscarried. 2nd round of icsi (short protocol) collected 15 eggs, I have 4 in the freezer. And it was a positive result, I'm now 14 weeks pregnant. X
