Hi everyone! I'm due to start my first IVF in August, I'm just a little bit confused! I get 3 free chances on the NHS, but if I'm lucky enough so have some spare to freeze, will they count as my free go?
FRESH AND FROZEN CYCLES??: Hi everyone... - Fertility Network UK
FRESH AND FROZEN CYCLES??
I was successful with my first go so that was it no more free try's had to pay for my frozen cycle which was unsuccessful an now paid for my third attempt which is a fresh cycle with egg collection next week x good luck to u an fingers crossed for first time xxx if unsuccessful first time then it would still be free for second/third time x
Hi babez i also had 3 chances on NHS..when u do ur first fresh cycle they will freeze the left over embryos..fingers crossed ur first cycle works for u but if u have to go on to do another cycle them thats cycle to and they will use some of ur frozen embryos then the left overs will be left in freeze incase u need them for a third cycle..a cycle is only classed as 1 chance if they put embryos back in..if for any reason they start ur treatment and they cancel the cycle or they dont get embryo that thaws that time they cancel it but that isnt classed as 1 of ur chances..also dont be dis heartened if ur first chance dont work as many ladies dont get there positive result first time, even me myself didnt get my BFP till my second chance..good luck and any questions feel free to message me xxx
Thank you so much for your quick replies! i was getting myself so confused, im completely new to all of this so im just trying to understand it all a little bit better. i was diagnosed with hydrosalphinx and they wont remove my tubes due to it being too risky because of my past surgeries so im being thrown straight into IVF, praying it works! xxxxx
the fertility fairness website shows NHS IVF provision for your CCG area... A 'cycle' varies significantly in the UK! For me a cycle was 1 fresh transfer, no frozen. Other areas include any frozen embryo's as 1 cycle additional to the fresh cycle. Makes a big difference as a frozen cycle is £900 for me!!
Hi Embiemomma, thank you so much for that reply, ive just went on that website and down loaded the data for Northern England, it says the definition of a cycle for me is "One fresh cycle and all viable frozen transfers ", im still a little confused as to what it means xxx
so basically, 1 cycle for you is an egg collection, they'll transfer the best embryo on that cycle and freeze the rest, if your fresh cycle fails, they'll transfer your frozen embryo's (how ever many you've got) in separate cycles. Eg. If you get 5 eggs collection that fertilise and develop into embryo's, they'll transfer 1 and freeze 4. Then you'll have 5 attempts at a transfer in total (1 fresh, 4 frozen) assuming they all thaw. That will be classed as 1 full cycle and you are entitled to 3 full cycles. Which is what NICE recommend so is really good for NHS!
Hi embiemomma
Thanks also from me for answering this question, do you know if it matters if the fet's are medicated or natural to be counted as part of 1 cycle? Feeling really silly for not knowing this! 🙈 x
Thank you i understand it completely now and has definitely made me feel happier about the process! xxxx
Thank you for asking the question as this is something my husband and me were wondering about to.
We're back for second appointment in 6 weeks x
Me and my partner were getting really confused about it! I'm glad it has helped people! Xxxxxx
