Waiting time for follow up review after failed cycle?

Hi I'm just wondering how long most people waited to see the consultant for a review after a failed cycle? We have been told two possibly even three months? I know it's to let my body recover and give me time to grieve it just seems like a long wait to me. I don't know what other people's experiences are?

With the NHS the first time we were about 11 weeks but I was told they would need at least 4-5 weeks for everyone to review the notes then an appointment to be sent out. But the appointment never arrived so I phones after about 5 weeks, then was given one 6 weeks later.

The second time I was more proactive and met them about 6 weeks after it failed.

After the first attempt I was told I needed to wait at least 3 cycles to give my body time to settle so I still had time to wait after my review appointment(as my cycles are very long). So I think it is irrelevant how much time your body needs to recover if you are seeing your dr purely to review your previous treatment as it is good to do that ASAP so that if you are advised to make changes to your diet or take a supplement etc you can do so sooner rather than later.

Although hopefully your review meetings are more productive than mine as having unexplained infertility we tend to get told we were just unlucky!

Hiya

Think we waited 6 weeks after each failed cycle

this will vary from clinic to clinic, and also if you're NHS or private. If it was a failed fresh or frozen cycle and you have more embryos frozen, there is no need to wait. (as long as there wasn't a problem with your treatment and the embryo just didn't implant) our first fresh cycle failed a week ago and 2 days later the nurse rang me to do a phone consent for a FET and I'm starting meds on day 21 of this cycle! Don't forget by the time I have the next transfer I will have had 2 periods anyway. She said no point waiting 2 months to see consultant (that was the next free slot) as nothing went 'wrong' and they wouldn't do anything different next time. If I had to have a new fresh cycle, i would have to see Dr first and have 3 periods prior. This is NHS too. Might be worth asking depending if you have frozen embryos...

We had them approx 6 weeks after BFNs 1& 2.We were private patients so could take our pick of dates. We then just rang up when period started to agree dates to start the next round.

After 3rd BFN the date got changed by mistake so we handed up having it 8 weeks afterwards. That was probably a good thing in the end.

If your NHS you're follow up might depend on their availability.

Thanks I wasn't sure what was normal. I had a very strange cycle where I bled quite heavy really soon after transfer so it's maybe best to give my body time to recover and speak to the consultant before we start again. It's just frustrating when you would like to talk to them about it to have to wait! I have a frozen blast but the nurse said on the phone they might choose to do a fresh one again she wasn't sure xxxx
