That's really good news! My hubby had cancer treatment in his late teenage years and only managed to store a small amount, but keep saying it only takes 1 sperm! Really happy for you x
Sounds like your clinic will have plenty to work with which is great news!!
We have been freezing sperm this week too as my other half has testicular failure which means he may stop producing anytime, low count & motility. We got 8 vials of sperm. When we spoke to the embryologist beforehand he said he wanted around 10 to give them plenty to work with. Around 75% survive defrosting so that was good to hear to. We were so happy, we could have had a party!!π Only a small step in our journey but an important one!!π
12 is good. There should be plenty to work with. If numbers are scanty in the straws they'll do icsi instead. So they'll pick the best sperm to use for each egg. Hooray! Another hurdle completed!
Woop whoop! That's fantastic news! It must have been a massive relief for you both. I don't know how many straws is good either but hey, if you only need one sperm to do the job it can't be bad!
We had PESA in 2014 then got one syringe/ vial frozen from the process. Used them in 12 eggs in ICSI treatment in August 2014. Since then hospital trying one by one in FET every three months break... Up till now, we used last one embryo two days before... Don't know what to say..
9 embryos could make it to blastocyst stage and only five were able to be frozen, last one we've used two days before.
As for pregnancy, I could touch BFN stage only once and that was in September 2015, but bad luck struck hard... At 5 weeks scan, they couldn't see heartbeat.. So miscarriage was the option and I went for natural one... Gone through it and it was the most difficult experience ever.
I don't know what to expect from this one.. I have in my womb... Is it working??? Will it??? Any chance??? I don't know. Nobody else ever knows before the dates come by and the check accordingly...
We are over the moon as its a huge weight off of my DH's shoulders as if they hadn't found any then I think he would've gone into meltdown.
We are on holidays now until the 12th March at the beach with the dogs so will be spending most days walking in the bracing winds and just enjoying some together time before it all starts on the 14th. It's my birthday tomorrow too and we haven't told anyone what we've been through so when parents ask me what DH got me for my birthday I'll have to be inventive, I can hardly say sperm can I!! ππ
Thank you all again for sharing your stories and I wish everyone all the luck in the world xx
