I start my injections Thursday and am still undecided as to where to inject!?
On my last cycle I did thigh, which I didn't overly might - it was the thought of it more than the needle (as it always is hehe), but wondered if anyone p-refers/suggests tummy over thigh??
Tummy is less painful as there's more skin/fat to grab! Sit down slightly forward and you'll get a nice roll to pinch. remember to alternate sides and not too close to belly button.
Hi I prefer the inner thigh at the top as I dont seem to bruise there, however my clinic is very strict on where an injection has to be done. If your clinic has said to do it in your thigh then I would ask them before changing location as there might be a reason for it.
good luck with them, I've currently got 1 bruise after 2 days of injections in my tummy.. let the count begin x
Hi poochi,
I did thigh before and now only realise how much more it bruised and hurt compared to tummy. The clinic said either leg or stomach, which at first I was extremely nervous of doing but I'm on day 2 in my tummy and so far it's ok. Stings a little when goes in and doh administering. I like that he feels involved in the process unlike before.
When you get used to it you'll find some spots easier than others to inject into. My right side always feels better than my left and I think doing it a little low down kind of helps. They told me you can think of the injection area as a smile around your belly button, so you can go below the belly button as well as the sides. Count to 10 before releasing the needle as well and warm up the injection in your hands before using it. Try injecting at different speeds to see what stings less. Swap sides every day too.
I'm injecting heparin throughout my pregnancy and have become quite the expert now! I don't even bruise much anymore. The bruising happens if you catch a blood vessel but shouldn't happen too much if you're injecting into the fatty bits.
