We finally have our start date, 11th March, they want us to try IUI first, all consent forms signed, can anyone tell me what will happen at next appointment, will anything happen or is it just another planning appointment. Was overwhelmed that we finally got here and didn't ask anything before we left!
Starting at last!: We finally have our... - Fertility Network UK
Starting at last!
That's great news....how long wer yiu waiting for the 1st appointment?
Referral from gp to gynae/sub fertility was last January, lots of tests there, then referred to St Marys for ivf consideration in September, more tests there and this was first consultant appointment there last Thursday, lots of too and fro but finally feels like there's an end in sight!
I start at at St Mary's next month, I have my teach appointment next week. Super excited x
aw excellent! depending on if they actually start on march cycle for me then we could be doing dreaded wait parts around the same time....everyone there seems very friendly and the 2 consultants I saw Thursday were great, makes it seem much less daunting.
Yes so far our experience has been good. So exciting to be getting started. Have you had your teach appointment? Are you on long or short protocol? X
We're not going straight to ivf, trying IUI first so no teach been mentioned?, from what I've read this can be with or without stimulating med? If without then I hope it all starts pretty quick in March as appointment has been planned around my 'expected' cycle, but we gotta wait and see I guess? So much good luck to you!
Wishing you the best of luck xxx
Hi saffi2182. Good to hear that you are getting good care from your consultants. You may still have to have a chat about giving yourself injections – if you are having any, plus when the cycle will start. You’ve done all the legal paperwork, so that’s out of the way. You might be invited to an open evening to learn all about the process from start to finish, although this is not always offered. An internal scan of your ovaries may be done too to check for any cysts on your ovaries. All soon will be made clear, so all I can do is to wish you every success and hope all goes to plan. Diane
That's great news, good luck with your IUI.
I think everyone's appointments are different depending on their clinics, I had 2 rounds of IUI privately whilst waiting for our IVF on the NHS, now on my second IVF and going private. I carried around a little notebook in my handbag and wrote thoughts and questions down along the way as I was always forgetting to ask when I was in the appointment.
Good luck xx
Hi, saffy! Wish you good luck with your treatment!
Still would like to ask you whether you've got any fertility issue. What's the reason for your taking IUI? Of course if it's OK..
I'm a little bit surprised you have to wait for March - seems pretty long.. In our case the second appointment was just a planning one as they had to clarify the conditions and get us prepared for the procedure. The point is that they used my eggs while performing the procedure. It was our very first cycle and we did believe it would be successful. But the core of the problem was far deeper.
Still not knowing the whole situation we were offered to go through ICSI and failed again. Until we happened to come to Ukraine were the situation changed for better..
I'm not sure you'll get much from your second appointment, I mean from the practical point of view. But can be mistaken..
Have they already chosen the right donor for you? If you don't mind telling, where is the clinic you're having the procedure in?..
Hi, we're in Manchester. We aren't using a donor we are using my partners. the delay is due to a ski holiday we have booked so they are skipping one cycle. Thank you for sharing your experience, have you had a successful cycle now? We are having 3 gos of IUI first, If that doesn't work then will be ivf/icsi
Thanks for asking, saffi.
This was my endo we were trying to get rid of first. And just in haste following unqualified advice we tried IUI and ICSI first. But they were of no use because of off my poor quality eggs. They were not mature enough for fertilizing.
But such state of things was explained to us only in our last biotexcom fertility center where we applied for DE ivf. Those had to be donor's eggs and my husband's sperm for the embryos creation. And that was it - I had no biological relation to babies to be. Of course it took me much time to get used to this thought. But there is no more precious thing than to have your family expanded after all that waiting...
Each of our three attempts they transferred 2 embryos. Two cycles failed. And the third one was successful. The two embryos were implanted and lived for some both. But later one vanished.. And another one remained healthy and strong..
Have a nice holiday, my fingers crossed for you X
