Oooh honey I feel for you. I've just had the ec for my second try, all frozen till Jan due to ohss.

It's harder the second time as you know what's ahead.

Look it in the bright side, you have a second chance, the first time is really Trial and error, now they know you, your body, your reaction.

Embrace this opportunity.

It is really really hard and I have found this second time emotionally really draining.

But this is what this site is all about.

Woman in a really hard situation trying to get through the best we can and supporting each other the best way we can xx

Thank you losinghopefast77. Thats is true about knowing what to expect, and i should try and use it to my advantage. I hope it all goes well and we have a little Christmas miracle. It would be the best christmas present ever, but shouldnt think that far yet. Im sorry to hear about your ohss. I hope you recover quickly and are feeling better soon. Big hugs, good luck x

Hi Sam,

It is very hard to remain positive I know. But what I would say is take each step/ hurdle at a time. Don't think about what if it fails when u haven't even down regulated or started stimming. They say that on average it takes a women three attempts for Ivf to be successful so u are closer to that already by being on your second attempt. Stay positive and upbeat and try not to stress about the little things. You will be fine

Hi purdy,

Thank you for your reply. I didnt realise that it usually takes 3 goes on average so that makes me feel a bit better. I think my problem is i think too much about things before they happen rather than just going with the flow. Thank you for the good advice. It really helps having the support from people on here, just makes it that little bit easier sometimes. Good luck with you to x

in reply to Sam101

You sound like me, why go with the flow when I can with about it all now ;)

Have they given you anything for your ohss? or do they just leave you until you feel you are getting back to normal?

Hello. I had about eight IVF's in all until finally getting pregnant using ICSI. I was very determined to keep trying so, although it sounds odd, I treated the treatment like a business and always kept the end goal in mind even after a failure. I hope this try will be successful for you and fingers crossed but I found after a couple of weeks of feeling a bit down after a treatment didn't work I started to focus on the next try. Determination is the key to getting through it, Good luck! Barbara

Thank you Barbara. That sound like a good idea to always keep the end goal in sight. I have been excited and optimistic up until now but the closer i get to starting my injections the more nervous i become and start thinking about things more. Im going to have to pull myself together and think positive. I have a very supportive husband who is my world. My family and friends have been fantastic to and its good to know you have everyone's support. Congratulations on your fabulous news. After 8 goes you must be ecstatic. When are you due?

in reply to Sam101

The injections are OK, really, really OK.

You do them, you control when they go in. Really not as bad as you think it is.

My husband was with me to help reaching the instructions, I didn't want to mess it up. But you will see, they are fine xx

Wow, you sound like a super woman to me..... How do you deal with the emotions?!?!

Thats ok. I didnt think it was but didnt want to ignore it. I know what you mean it can be a bit confusing sometimes. Are you having your treatment through the nhs or private? Xx

in reply to Sam101

Hey through the NHS which is great :) feeling lucky to have the chance, even when I hate it all ;)

Me to. It's such a relief to be able to have it through the nhs. Its not great but if it gives us the opportunity to have a little one i would do it over and over again ☺

This was actually a long while ago! My son is now 17 years old - I accidentally found myself on this website while researching something else but became interested in reading people's stories having gone through all this myself. I really think it's a case of temporarily trying to distance yourself emotionally to some extent while you're going through these treatments in order to survive them although I know for some this will be difficult. Keep strong and hopeful and all my positive thoughts are wiring their way through to you! Take care Barbara x

That is good that you are happy to come on here and tell us about your story so it can help others and give some reassurance to those going it now, or about to go through it. Im hoping as christmas wont be too far away i will have plenty to occupy me so im not constantly thinking about it. Thank you again i really appreciate it xx
