Egg Collection

Hi all,

Had my egg collection today and managed to get 7 eggs which is more than we thought. Just waiting on the call tomorrow to see if any fertilised. The nurse said that if all goes well then ET will be Friday or Monday. Isn't Friday too early?

7 is a great number! I think you'd said your AMH levels were quite low, so this is great!! Friday sounds early alright, I thought they normally wait for day 3 at the earliest. They might take them to day 5 (Monday) if the eggs are developing at similar rates by day 3. By day 5, they can tell better how they are dividing and which is best quality. For me, I kind of just wanted to get them back into me but ours were taken to day 5 and I was happy with that in the end because one of them wasn't developing well by then and I had 2 transferred, nothing frozen.

Best of luck!

ET usually happen day 2,3, and 5. It will all depend on how happy the little embryos are.

The hospital has just called and 4 eggs fertilised! 😁 They said ET will be Monday so now just hoping they all grow properly! Trying to take each stage at a time but you can't help but worry about the next stage. Just about to have acupuncture again to try and relax xxx

Depends if they do a 3 or 5 day transfer! Lucky number 7 ;) lots of positive vibes

Good news as it gives you longer to recover from any collection aches & pains & bloating. I felt exhausted for a few days after egg collection so it was good to rest before the transfer which is a much easier procedure.

Good luck with it all, best wishes, xxx

Thanks everyone. I'm still feeling delicate after the collection and I'm bloated too. The support on here is amazing. It's nice to talk to women who know how you're feeling and what you're going through. That's no offence to my friends and family but they don't understand the heartache I feel every time another friend announces a pregnancy on Facebook xxx

The extra days definitely help you recover better. I felt much better on day 5 than I did on day 3. The hormones also start to leave your system, so you feel more like yourself again. Now they will definitely know which embryos are best quality if they go to day 5. It's good you have the weekend to relax in between, put your feet up and allow yourself to heal and be ready for et. Best of luck!
