Hi could any body tell me if they had Embryo transfer done by nurses? If so, his was the experience? Is it preferable to have a doctor for ET? Urgent response needed please.

Urgent post on ET
Hi HopeforICSI, I guess it depends on what the norm is for your clinic. I guess it doesn't matter who does it as long as they are qualified. There are usually 2people in the room plus the embryologist who will handover the embryos. A consultant has done my transfers but if I was told that a qualified nurse was doing the transfer I'm sure I'd be okay with it and so would my husband.
Hope all went okay !
I think there were also two nurses plus the embryologist at mine. NHS clinic. I found the nurses to be great and highly specialist. There was one main person who did the transfer and spoke to me throughout. I wouldn't worry, everyone there will be highly trained and professional, and will do these ETs every day.
Best wishes, xxx
Hi.
The consultant did the transfer for us on both occasions with a nurse who assisted him and the embryologist dealing with the prep of the embryo.
Good luck x
Hello,
I assumed we would have a doctor but on the day I said to my husband I was pretty sure we had a staff nurse (I was trying to look at her badge!). She was fab and made me feel relaxed and I was confident in her ability. She was assisted by the embryologist. We saw the embryo move into place so we were quite happy with that. And our round was successful so if you are worrying about having a nurse don't fret x
I can appreciate your concern I wouldn't be comfortable. I would express my concerns and request a doctor.
clinics don't understand how important this is for you.
I would ask them would they be happy if it was them having to put the trust in a nurse.
Good luck xx
I had a nurse perform the transfer, with the Embyrologist handing over the catheter and checking the catheter afterwards. My clinic used a measured catheter but no screens/scans to check that the embryos were in place. I did find this weird, as I was expecting to see a screen in the room, but there was just a specialised chair and lamp!
I did ask how they knew that the embryos were in the correct place and was informed of the metered catheter and that the tubes are checked under a microscope by the Embyrologist to confirm that the embryos had left the tubing.
Wish I could have seen something on a screen though for reassurance, especially now considering a BFN.
I felt totally confident with the nurse and embyrologist though.
Thanks you all to support through it. I requested a doctor, so finally a doctor assisted by nurses and embryologist. Had a chance to have a screen to watch and a scan as well. Trying to keep myself occupied as it's hard for me to think positive after experiencing negative tests twice. And most of ladies here got disheartening results that couldn't be neglected anyway. Am trying not to scan myself and forget about it. But how???? Well I try to ignore.
