Now we all know that we should wait and test when we’re told to but has anyone tested earlier to discover a positive result and if so, how early?? 🤨

Yeah, have really sore boobs today but they feel fuller than the really sore boobs I’ve had since just before EC

Hi Olivia, I’ve always been one of the naughty ones and start testing 5 days post 5day blastocyst transfer and positive with frer which are v sensitive to the hormone. I have been disappointed with 3 chemical pregnancies even though the line got darker everyday but if you can stay calm and keep an open mind go for it otherwise the sensible option is to wait but patience has never been my strong point lol. Good luck 🤞🏼Xxx

Can you explain the chemical pregnancy bit? I’ve seen it referred to a few times on this site and assume it’s IVF drugs reading as a positive test but can you confirm?

Chemical pregnancy can be ivf drugs but is also the phrase for a very very early miscarriage.

Personally I would wait till otd as there are stories on here of people getting early positives but then negatives on otd, I couldn’t take that.

I tested at 6dp5dt and got a positive, that so far has stayed that way! I'm far too impatient to wait.. But I was prepared if it came back negative, I didn't actually think it would be positive at all. So it's up to you! As long as you know you might be disappointed and also the clinic won't except your result just yet. I wish I had waited, because I ended up spending loads on tests (I didn't buy cheap ones) and just waiting for OTD was just as bad! Xx

I’ve had 4 transfers now and tested early every round. My clinic has a long wait compared to some (13dp5dt) and it was driving me crazy waiting that long. They say they make the wait that long as they have seen late implanters and people testing early and getting false negatives.

For me I think the chemical pregnancy bit is the main reason not to test early, but I’m still undecided on whether it is a good reason. On my first round I tested 9dp5dt and got a BFP and went on to have a healthy baby. So on my second round when I tested on the same day and got a second BFP I was overjoyed. But that was short lived as by 11dp5dt it was a negative and I suffered a chemical pregnancy. If I’d waited until OTD I would never have known about it and would have just assumed it was a BFN. My third round was a BFN and it was so much easier to deal with than the second round. So in a way I do wish I hadn’t tested early.

Having said that, if you have multiple chemical pregnancies then it can point to where your fertility issues lie. And whilst it must be heartbreaking to suffer multiple early miscarriages for me, if it could help identify the cause and therefore potential treatment then I personally would want to know.

With that in mind on my latest cycle I decided I did want to know if I was going to have recurrent chemical pregnancies so tested even earlier than normal (5dp5dt) with a first response and I got a BFP. That same day I noticed a drop off in my symptoms, then a couple of days later I had some pink spotting and basically, even though I tested every couple of days and still got BFPs I spent the rest of the 2ww paranoid I was going to suffer another chemical pregnancy. My OTD was yesterday and I still have a positive. Because of my first chemical I’m still worried that something is going to go wrong and the wait to the scan is going to be hell. If I hadn’t tested early and known about that first chemical then who knows if I’d be feeling the same.

To cut a long story short I think it’s a very personal decision whether or not to test early. There are pros and cons to it so weigh up both and decide whether it’s worth it for you. Good luck x
