Hello.....

We are on the waiting list for NHS treatment. I have quite a simple question..... When we get to treatment will it be in an NHS hospital or are you referred to a fertility clinic?

Thanks

I'm not sure if it's dependent on area, but I believe you are usually referred to a private fertility clinic. I was referred and had a choice of three clinic to pick from.

Good luck x

This would be my preference tbh.... went to an open evening at CRGW last night and it was such a nice building and team of staff. Also their costs are lower than other clinics so our plan is (if the magic doesn't happen naturally) is to have the 2 cycles we would be entitled to in Wales and then we have enough saved for 1 additional cycle x

Our NHS funded IVF was referred to a Fertility Clinic which takes on NHS and private paying patients. It is a facility that only deals with IVF and not in a hospital.

Suppose it depends on where you live and where your nearest facilities are.

Our Nhs funded was referred to a Fertility Clinic as well. But I think it depends on the region and what your needs are in terms of treatment and facilities.

Hi, I would suggest getting in touch with your CCG and finding out which clinics /hospitals they have contracts with. If they have a contract with the clinic of your choice you should be able to request to be referred to it x

Hi, it generally depends on what facilities the hospital has. They may have fertility treatment available, or there may be a local specialist clinic who gets the funding to treat you. Our treatment is split, the hospital has done the tests and will do the monitoring but the egg collection and transfer is done at a separate fertility clinic as the hospital doesn't have the facility or resources. Good luck 🍀

Hi my treatment is through NHS and its at a fertility clinic that treats both NHS and private. Was told the clinic can do everything apart from the egg collection which will be at the hospital. I think it depends on your area where you live but for most people seems the treatment is done at a clinic. Hope this helps and good luck with your journey x
