Quick egg collection update...

Hi ladies.

My update so far....

Collection Friday:

12 eggs collected

2 degenerated eggs

10 eggs to use with ICSI

My blood pressure stayed quite low for ages after coming round and they were talking about putting me on a drip, but it slowly increased.

Didn't feel over sick afterwards, but was sick on the way home.

Day 1:

Got the call Saturday morning.....

Only 4 out of the 10 had survived and fertilised overnight :-(

We were obviously disappointed that it was less then 50%, but there was still hope.

Day 3:

All 4 still there!! :-)

They are 6, 7, 8 & 8 cells which the clinic class as top quality, but as they are all so similar, it's too difficult for them to pick the best one to do a day 3 transfer.

They are continuing to day 5 blastocyst for transfer.

As they don't get checked tomorrow, we'll only find out how they have done when we go there on Wednesday.

I was dreading the call this morning as it's the first time my husband hasn't been there to share the experience, but can relax again now until Wednesday!!

Hope you are all doing well?

X

Hi YellowRose.

Thank you. Are you feeling better after the infection now?

in reply toHollibob

Oh gosh, I didn't create a post to update people, sorry (long story but I was afraid to post for a while, can't go into it now on here but HU were amazing and resolved the issue).. but I became very ill with Hyperemesis Gravidarum at 7 weeks, the same thing Kate Middleton had - anyway so I had to be hospitalised and fed with saline drips and strong anti sickness drugs.

I could not even sip water without throwing up so I was dangerously dehydrated. I think I was being sick about 15 -30 times a day, pulled so many muscles and my lips cracked and shrunk - was the most horrendous experience in my life (including but worse than my stage 4 endo surgeries) but don't worry, it's pretty rare and only 1 to 3% of pregnant women get it.

I am still on the mend, but now have pretty normal sickness. I had a bad chest infection too which didn't help, coughing alot which hampered my recovery to be honest. Just bad luck and bad timing, that's all.

The infection before christmas went, and that ended up being thrush and not a UTI - which was frustrating after taking the antibiotics for no reason, but the Doctor misdiagnosed me.

So it's been a challenging journey and yes, all very worrying due to having to have all these drugs so early on - a real shame but hopefully it will all be fine for the pregnancy.

Luckily I am a calm person and I just go with it, yes I worry but worrying in itself is normal and natural and doesn't impact pregnancy - so I just have to built up my strength and get my appetite back. It is coming back, so I am feeling a bit more confident.

Anyway, back to you - good luck for tomorrow. We didn't know how the eggies were until we reached the clinic on day 5 too, but if they are confident enough to wait then i am sure it will all be fine.

Just try to read or watch silly things on tv, or go for a little walk. Drink water today, it will help you for tomorrow. And just rest tomorrow at the ET. I did and it worked.

Stay in touch, keen to know how tomorrow goes for you and thanks for remembering about my infection etc, v sweet of you. xx

Gosh, sounds like you've had a terrible time of it YellowRose! I think there should be a rule that difficulty in ttc = easy pregnancy and a short painfree labour!!!

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x

in reply toHopeful1982

Couldn't agree more, Hopeful1982 :-) It's funny you should say that because I honestly thought I will be fine, thought I'd already been through enough cr*p. But noooo, not me... I feel a bit ridiculous that so much has happened. Pregnancy isn't supposed to be an illness but it has been for me.

But I'm NOT complaining, I genuinely believed it would never happen for me. It wasn't me just being negative, but the consultants told me time and again how unlikely it would be with my extensive damage from the endo - so it's taking time to accept, despite all this.

But I've read that that is also a pretty normal way to feel. I know i will relax after the 12 week scan early Feb, fingers crossed.

I read you made progress and could start within 3 months. Take the 3 months to get healthy, but don't be too harsh or strict with yourself. Just eat well and walk alot, that's what I did. Goodluck and keep us updated xx
