does light sedation for egg collection make you fall asleep ? xxx kirsty xx

Hi

It seems to affect people differently. I did fall asleep just before both of my collections but was awake just a few minutes after the procedure and just felt a bit drowsy for the rest of the day, I was very happy it was like that to be honest! I also know of slides who felt sleepy but weren't actually asleep and were aware of what was going on.

Hi, I was told it was "heavy sedation" and when I asked what it meant, they told me its pretty similar to general anasthetic, using some of the same drugs. It certainly felt the same, I was out cold and not aware of anything, then woke up and it was all over - brilliant! I was more than a little drowsy afterwards. I felt absolutely shattered, but not sure how much of that was down to the stimming/trigger drugs too. Try not to worry, I dont think you will be aware of anything until it is all done xxx

Hi,my advice to you would be to have a couple of days off after the EC- just like the other girls,I didn't feel a thing,but next few days I felt very uncomfortable and my tummy felt and looked like a balloon! I hope it all goes well! Good luck- it's really nothing to worry about! x

I had my egg retrieval today and I thought I was out cold because I woke up in a very nice sleepy state in the recovery room, however, I had my mum in the theatre and she said that I was talking to her (but not making any sense apparently, she was laughing!) anyways I didn't know anything about this! Very funny. Still feel sleepy 8 hours later. You'll be fine x
