Apparently I am not following the normal IVF path as I am skipping the dampening down part and I'm currently on the contraceptive pill to help regulate the timings. Anyone else done it this way and had success? I'm happy in someways because it means I am a month ahead of where I thought I'd be but worried in another as it's not the usual way!

Anyone else?
Hi ya, I have been put on microgynon 30 for 3 weeks. I thought this was a bit unusual as everyone else on here have been given injections? Do you know what your AMH is?
Mine is high so the doctor has said my meds will be lower as he doesn't wasnt to retrieve loads of eggs as the quality wont be that good? Also I am booked in for a 3d Saline infusion sonogram after the 3 weeks, I was reading up on it and it said this had to be done on day 5-12 but mine is being done on day 21. I called them and they said it doesnt matter when you get it done as you have been put on the contraceptive pill. Are you NHS or Private?
Hmm I've not had any mention of the saline thing at all... I've not had my mag result yet but my day 2-3 was high which is why we're going this route. I'm NHS are you? They've not said anything about the quality of the eggs or the amount. Thanks for your response it gives me some questions to ask next time!
We are having to go private, maybe they do things different? I had to have an AMH blood test to find out how my egg reserve was and it's high at 29.9 average is 13/14
I had signs of polycystic overies (never been diagnosed with this) which is why I have to have the scan.. I think it's to make sure things are ok to start. You must ask lots of questions, write things down otherwise you go blank when it comes to it. You could always call I assume they will understand that your head is all over the place! X
You're right I really am all over the place I'm sure when I went to the seminar I had to go too that the AMH tested some hormone level in my brain and my husband said he thought the same thing!!! ARggh crazy times! The saline thing could be an private thing or might be another factor I suppose age, or a result on sometimes.. Lets just all hope it works! Good luck x
This is completely normal for the long protocol. I went onto the pill for 3 weeks, before starting the down regulation drugs which I have now been on for 9 days. I am starting my stimulation drugs today!!
They just do this in order to be able to judge the timings for starting you on the down reg drugs. Also, if you have endo, having the pill for a few weeks can help to calm it down before starting the proper treatment. I am pretty sure that you will still do the down regulation the same as normal.
The clinic should have clearly given you dates that you need to start/stop the pill and start/stop the next set of drugs. If they haven't done this, I suggest you chase them up. I was given a clear set of dates of what would happen when.
Don't be impatient and upset that this means it might take an extra 3 weeks.. if it helps your chances of success then it is well worth it.
Good luck to us all xx
Thanks maccerpops, I know I'm definitely not having the down regulations I haven't been given dates as of yet but I will be soon. I'll be the given the stimulating drug and then at some point I'll be taking the down regulation ones at the same time to stop me ovulating! It's a little different to the norm but let's hope it ends in the same positive result for us all. X
OK, different paths for each of us! Best of luck to us all x
