40 Weeks No Signs of Labour

Hi all

I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and literally no sign of this baby moving 🤣 We've tried everything

Yoga, aromatherapy, expressing, sex, walking, dates, raspberry leaf tea.

I had a sweep last week and my cervix was thin, central and half a cm dilated. Baby's head really low.

I've basically managed to get my anxiety under control but am worried it might get out of hand again the further I go over, and I'm realising I should have probably worked until closer to the end as I'm not very good at having little to do!!

Any other tips to get the baby out. I'm booked for induction at 41 weeks due to low Papp-A but would prefer to avoid this!

It sounds like you've been doing everything you can to get things moving. It's great to hear you've been able to keep your anxiety in check – that's a huge win in itself!

Honestly, sometimes babies just need a little extra time, and it can be hard not knowing exactly when they'll arrive. I know the induction is a bit of a worry, but at least you're already in a good place with the support you're getting. Hang in there, you're so close! Just try to take it one day at a time. Sending you lots of positive vibes and strength during this final stretch! You've got this, and baby will be here before you know it. xxx

I’d ask for another sweep and see if that helps maybe?. A bath seemed to bring mine on but might have been a coincidence xx

I've booked a sweep on Wednesday. Sadly our bath is broken 🤦🏼‍♀️ and I have to lie really flat to be in the water which isn't great right now!

I know it's normal to not have gone into labour yet, I'm just stressed 😭 and hungry all the time!!!

Aww bless you! I was booked for induction at 39 weeks so I was trying to get ahead of it a bit too and did get my waters to break on their own but did need the drip eventually and it wasn’t so bad so please don’t stress about that part lovely 🤗 hopefully the 2nd sweep will help a n Wednesday 🤞🏽 xx

I've seen so many inductions go really well, I think as a birth centre midwife I always assumed I'd go there ❤️ but this (huge) baby might have other ideas! I just want to meet them now - and know if it's a boy or a girl!!

Try not the panic, my first was exactly one week overdue, I felt like it was never going to happen then suddenly my waters went… and it all started!

Just focus on good nutrition every day, plenty of fluids, sleep, so you are ready.

I had a chippy tea the night she was born, and regretted that, as I saw it again a few hours later (😂 sorry TMI). I also raided my hospital bag and ate all the jelly babies a few days before, then ended up with low blood sugar during the birth and didn’t have any supplies 🤦🏼‍♀️

So, just keep doing what you’re doing, and it will happen!

Thanks for your reply and that's so sad about the chippy tea!! I love a chippy tea! I had planned to walk this morning but instead it's 11 and I've only just woken up as exhausted! So maybe need to stop feeding guilty and just rest today and get back on the active things tomorrow!
