Constant worry about MMC

After 6 IVF, I am finally pregnant. But in between each scan, I worry if baby still has heartbeat...Been very tired from being pregnant at 12w, so exhausted that I can hardly finish my work and experiencing insomnia too. Some nights I only sleep 4 hours plus. Thinking whether to resign to stay home to ensure baby will be ok and not affected by my work.

Hoping for any advice.

It's natural to be anxious with any pregnancy and especially after infertility and IVF. The first trimester is exhausting but it should get easier during the second trimester (although the tiredness can re-emerge with a vengeance in the third). And ironically when you're already tired, pregnancy insomnia is also really common - some say it's a way of preparing you for when the baby is born! I had it in both pregnancies in the third trimester - woke every night around 3am and couldn't get back to sleep. Eventually I just got up and worked, but I would then fall asleep standing up in the afternoon. So I think what you're describing about exhaustion and insomnia are fairly normal things in pregnancy, and it shouldn't impact the pregnancy - I had a toddler and was working mad hours and travelling the last pregnancy and definitely wasn't getting much sleep or rest. But get it checked with the doctor if you're concerned to make sure it's not anything like blood sugar or thyroid issues etc (everything goes haywire during pregnancy). And ultimately it's your decision and if you need to take time off or quit then go with your instincts.

Thank you for your reply, will check with my dr this fri whether to check blood sugar and thyroid function. I work in healthcare sector which involves walking and carrying medications on top of my other duties. Hopefully the tiredness will get better since I am already at 12w now...

ah Purple_skies . The worry and anxiety is unreal . My advice would be to carry on working if you can - being at home and resting is great but it will make the time go so slow when all you want to do is get to the finish line and have a healthy baby here earth side . Also allows your mind to wander . Try and book in some leave days to just go for walks, read a book , watch some box sets . You won’t get to do any of that once the baby is here !

Like you I had many rounds of IVF before having my son - I felt robbed because I didn’t enjoy my pregnancy , I was just filled with worry all the time and had plenty of reassurance scans . The tiredness is brutal but also staying active is key to a strong postpartum body and labour.

Good luck and fingers crossed for you . I know it’s no guarantee but every week closer your probabilities of no heartbeat go down . I used to obsess about the probabilities!

My work is quite strenuous at times and I had mild bleeding few weeks ago and I had to go A and E for scan. Thankfully baby is ok but I couldn't endure pelvic exam so cause of bleeding was not found. Thankfully there is no more bleeding and I try to walk slower and lesser now. I had occasions where I had giddiness when I was busy at work which made me worry if baby is affected..I spent time watching amazon prime and netflix which helped alot...
