Slightly embarrassing... Recurring thrush anyone?

Hi ladiesI'm 33wks with my first...

Have had a relatively easy going pregnancy so far, but have had recurring thrush for the last 6-8 weeks :/

The GP doesn't seem to know what to do other than get me in for repeat swabs and prescribe canesten

I've had it once before in my early 20s so definitely pregnancy related

Anyone else been in my shoes? Would be nice to hear there's a light at the end of the tunnel (although assume this may be once bubba arrives!!)

Thanks all xx

This happened with both my pregnancies although started around 34 weeks. I think it has to do with all the hormonal changes. I just rode it out with canesten. It did go away as soon as I gave birth. Good luck - it’s annoying but will end!

I had this in my pregnancy and it kept reoccurring. I was told by a doctor at the hospital that the normal strength of canesten doesn’t work in pregnancy and that you need to take a stronger dose. I can’t recall what it was but it might be worth raising this with your doctor who can check the guidelines. Good luck x

Can you ask and see if you can take canesflor to help prevention once you’ve taken the thrush pessary? X
