Lots of babies hate it-definitely normal! I found singing and pulling funny faces really helped-he ended up enjoying nappy changes! But, this is age dependent. You could try putting baby on the change mat just for very short periods without changing and do something you know they like, whether it’s just interacting or singing or whatever. If lying down in general causes the tears reflux would be a consideration, in which case talk to your gp xx
hi, this is very normal in the early days! We used a muslin over the changing mat so it wasn’t so ‘cold’ on baby’s back / legs. We put music on and whilst one of us was changing baby, the other would either stroke cheek or show those contrast black and white cards that they really love. Helped keep my son distracted and then one day - he just was fine on the changing mat! It is hard because there are SO many nappy changes in the first few weeks so it feels like they’re constantly upset - but it will get easier as baby gets bigger!
maybe baby is hungry so a little feed before happy change to calm them? Either that or try and little soother/dummy, I always thought I wouldn’t use one but it had such a calming effect on my baby xx
