Hi All, I had a C section 2 days ago and now i am trying for milk production.

Firstly, would like to ask when does the milk starts to produce or come after C section.

Secondly, what are the good sources of lactation.

Thank you

Hi Sp@ rk_sp ankle. Colostrum, the first thicker milk can take a couple days. The milk will soon follow. Your midwife will support you through this. Good luck and congratulations. Diane

Not sure if you're still in hospital but the infant feeding team helped me loads after my LB. I then contacted them when I got home and someone came to visit me to help me with positioning etc

laleche.org.uk/ do lots of advice about breast feeding and breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/

I had a section and my milk didn’t come in properly until about a week after. I have heard the average is 3/4 days but section can delay things.

Best of luck and congratulations!

Hello,

I had a c section and for the first couple of days, it looked like I was not producing any milk even colostrum but I persisted and then my milk came in about 3 days later. My advice is try not to stress as even though milk comes in, it can affect let down. Utilise all the expert support you have around you.

A massive congratulations by the way 🎉

Thank you that is a relief to know n thanks for the wishes

I had an emergency c section, I had no milk before baby came but colostrum came through very soon after when the midwife guided me through feeding my baby.

We were feeding a lot to start with and I found it really difficult first two weeks - but then we just seemed to get better and better at it and it just felt great all of a sudden! But latch was really difficult for us both to get right at the start! And there was a lot of cluster feeding - could be hours! 😅 So sit back, change positions and relax - and always have water with you! 🥰 I miss those moments now, quiet breastfeeding cuddles! ..it is a beautiful journey! We went to support groups, so we could ask questions and just chat to other mums in the same situation! As I kept doubting myself 😇 My partner was supportive too, but it was of course harder for him to fully understand.. so support was really important for me to keep going! Because it was not easy!

I think my milk came in on day 4 post c-section! Proper swollen - and felt strange, but it did settle!

Congratulations!! 🥰 wishing you all the best with it!
