I agree with Gem, paracetamol is totally OK (and as a toddler-mum I assume you have the same ready supply of Calpol as me; surprisingly effective for grown ups too!)

Hope you get some rest and feel better soon, illness in this weather is not the one x

Hmmm never thought of Calpol for me.....thanks Moonbeam! X

I also have a cold and googled whether to take paracetamol and did come across some recent studies that suggest it can affect development. I think the NHS site still states it is the painkiller of choice for pregnant women but if you can cope without it I would personally try not to take it.

This was the article clinicbarcelona.org/en/news...

And it cites this journal article in Nature nature.com/articles/s41574-...

Try some natural remedies - honey for sore throat - lemon also good for this - rest when you can -drink plenty of fluids . Also if head blocked up try steam inhalation [hot water in a bowl and towel over head then good deep breaths ]Hope you feel better soon

Uff sorry lovely. Not fun to have those kinds of symptoms! I've found the best thing for healing a sore throat is a saltwater gargle a few times a day. It tastes disgusting but really helps bring down inflammation. Also, you can make a honey/lemon iced tea really easily if you're struggling with hot honey and lemon in this heat (two decaf teabags brewed in 800ml boiling water, then take tea bags out and mix in two tablespoons of honey and the juice of 1-1.5 lemons and leave to cool). xxx

Seems like trivial problem considering what every goes through on this platform.

Salt water is genius - going to do that right now.

Thanks for your kind response. Xxx

Hi I am 9 weeks and in my second week of having covid, am just taking it easy drinking plenty of oj and hot honey lemon water which has helped with the cough and sore throat. As I've lost my sense of smell and taste I have been having a kale and protein shake for breakfast and healthy snacks throughout the day. My midwife has reassured me that covid will not effect the pregnancy at all. Hope you feel better soon x

You poor thing - I luckily don't think it is covid. Been testing twice a day to make sure.

Very reassuring that your midwife said it is was ok for your pregnancy.
