decreased movements?

Rollercoastersmiles profile image

hey guys,

Feeling a bit paranoid and wanted to know what people think. I’m 21+6 today but feel like I’ve felt less movement over the last couple of days. There is still movement but it feels less strong and I feel nervous.

Any tips?

Our first ivf pregnancy was riddled with aniexty and I had two visits to our day clinic because of this, baby would be dancing about when I was hooked up, typical! But if you think that you feel less movement my advice would always be to call your midwife advice line and speak with them about your concerns to get the best advice on if they'd like you to be seen xx

just to add, we're on our second ivf pregnancy and I feel much less concern if I don't feel as much movement as I know that everything can be just fine. But you would have never made me believe that first time around xx

Thanks for replying! This does reassure me a bit. I was planning to call them when I finished work, but the line was closed…hence I’ve put it on here! I’ll try again tomorrow morning!

I had the same ! Couple of weeks ago, I am a bit ahead of you and at around 21weeks I felt less movement for a couple of days and it made me a bit anxious but then it came back ! I guess it depends on the position he is in. I think it's normal and nothing to worry, I was thinking of calling the midwife and I didn't at the end, just thought I will wait for my 25 weeks appt. Xxx

Thanks for replying. I did speak to a midwife in the end and they advised that until 24wks movement is likely to fluctuate and because I felt some movement today, I shouldn’t worry. I do feel reassured…and have felt more this evening anyway! Good luck for your midwife appt!

I went into the hospital a few times with reduced movement in my first pregnancy - it was fairly simple to reassure, they just found the heartbeat and checked everything out. They never made me feel bad or that I was wasting time.

Worth calling them I'd say.

X

It's probably nothing but you should call your local maternity unit (which will be 24h). The advice drummed into me by mine was never wait until the morning to call, always call as soon as you notice reduced movements. They may just assess you over the phone but it's really important to speak to them as soon as possible. xx

Thanks so much for replying. I spoke to a midwife in the end and she advised that until 24wks movement is likely to fluctuate and because I felt some movement today, I shouldn’t worry. It was definitely worth speaking to them. I feel massively reassured. It was just nice to speak to someone who knows what they’re talking about, and the midwife was lovely.

I felt the same yesterday but I do have an anterior placenta which can be a cushion between the baby and my tummy. I also remembered that the midwife on Monday said in these weeks I will learn the baby’s routine and it is important from 24 weeks to feel her move every day and call if I’m worried and they will check me. I’m sure your little one is fine in there! Xxx

I’m 27 weeks and my movements are still sporadic! Do you know where your placenta is located! Mine is at the front so they told me I might not feel much as the placenta is acting like a padding. I still get paranoid though!! Always call if in doubt I was told! Coul you try some foods / drinks that you know might trigger some movement …? It’s still early for regular movements, wishing you all the best xx
