32 weeks... Anyone else not feeling great?

Fertilityjourney profile image

Hello lovely people.

I am so, so thankful for my pregnancy but I'm having one of those days...

Im just feeling exhausted, my PGP has flared up so I can hardly walk and now feeling abit anxious as midwife called to say iron levels low so they're prescribing me iron supplements which I can't get until Monday.

I think I've just kept going, thinking positively after IVF, 2 miscarriages, immune treatment, then sub chloronic Heamatona and Placenta Previa (both of which have thankfully gone) Pelvic Girdle Pain, rib flare... But now I feel it just seems to never end!

Usually I'm a get on with it person but had a little cry tonight.

I know what we're all doing is amazing and it's bloody hard being pregnant for some. I guess I just needed to vent and see if anyone has any amazing advice / is feeling the same?

Xxx

Oh I totally get how you feel 🥴 it’s hard being pregnant. We have this most amazing gift growing but it’s so hard on our bodies. I see a chiropractor every week just to be able to walk around from the pain.

We can do it 😊 not long left and we will probably miss our bumps.

I am just resting as much as possible and actually letting my other half do a lot xx

Ah bless you, thank you for responding. 💕 I find the letting the hubby do things hard too as you feel useless being too tired to cook tea! I have next week off and then only 3 weeks until I go on maternity leave so I will start to take things easier now....

Weekly chiropractor sessions? Bless you. Do you have Pelvic Girdle Pain? My osteopath works miracles on me but was sick this week and can't get in to see her for another week... Argh! Xxx

I started with sciatica a while ago so I got straight in with the chiropractor & sports therapist they work wonders! Now she’s moved and is so far in my pelvis I am struggling with my lower pelvis and hips xx

Hey, I totally get how you are feeling. I’m normally out and about and doing things all the time. I’m 34 weeks today and have had my first properly hormonal corker of a week. I also have pelvic girdle pain and I’m finding it worst at night and waking up constantly which is making me shattered. On Tuesday I was sobbing my heart out cos the paint work I did in the nursery couldn’t have been quite dry when carpet fitters went in and now some of the skirting has marks and fluff all over it. My husband has said he can sand and touch it up but I was so upset at the time as just wanted it all to be done and lovely first time. On Wednesday I tested positive for gestational diabetes and just to make it worse my aunt has been in hospital in a high dependency ward with her diabetes after (gestational diabetes never going away 30 odd years ago) so I was really worried and that was more tears. I cancelled seeing friends in the eve, which is most unlike me as I just felt grumpy and unsociable. I have now had all my test results back and done a bunch of blood sugar readings myself and I’m actually not at all convinced I do have gestational diabetes, and if I do it’s very marginal, but the hospital have now said as a result they want me to move consultant to one who covers diabetes so on Thursday that set off a hormonal rage rather than tears. I am already due to be induced at 37 weeks as the baby is big (I’m just over 5’10”, as is my mum, my husband is 6’ and all the men on my side are well over 6’ and no one in my family has had small babies so the consultant thinks it is nature and not diabetes making it big and had said she would be more concerned if baby was small.) so I only have 3 weeks to go and we have a wonderful consultant, who we purposely chose to move to earlier in the pregnancy, and I have therefore made it absolutely clear I have no interest in moving to someone new for the last few weeks. Yesterday was my husbands birthday and it was nice just to have a day off work and enjoy a quiet day with him then a meal out. I think at this point in the pregnancy we are all entitled to some off/down days. To be honest I’m most impressed my husband hasn’t moved out this week I’ve been so all over the place. 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ Hope you have a better week next week. X

I hear you on the GDM. I got diagnosed at 38 weeks so I can tell you I’m not convinced either after two negative GTT tests and personal testing which with a tiny tweak of removing high sugary food my bloods have all been low. Urine had glucosruia - sometimes… yesterday… normal… 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t even have a larger than average baby and yet now we have to do all these ongoing extra tests.

My baby has always been measuring on the bigger side and had a jump from 90th to 95th percentile at last growth scan which was what prompted test but consultant had said it was just cautionary and she was sure it would be fine as baby is very long rather than overly chunky. Where I am, you have to be under 5.1 at fasting first thing and then under 8.5 2 hours after having the glucose drink. I was 5.2 at fasting and 7.3 2 hours later so only just over and even having had birthday cake at lunch yesterday then going out for dinner I was still under the levels they say you have to be 2 hours after eating meals. I was also told by the diabetes nurse that the further on you are in your pregnancy your sugars naturally go up and that in general GTT should be done between about 25-28 weeks at which point I’d have been classed as negative. My urine’s always been fine too. All seems a bit of a farce but hey ho.

Yeah my levels are even below that. I’m around 4 on fasting and I have to test one hour after meals and unless I had a sugary thing like a drink and a flapjack added to my lunch my levels have remained low. To be fair my urine has showed glucose from time to time but my bloods are fine. My baby is average but also quite leggy and arms as my partner is very tall. Who knows…

Ah bless you. Sounds like you have had a tough week... And I think we have done quite well to get this far along without having a hormonal corker!! I really hope next week is better for you too. 💕 Xx

I am really suffering with PGP and rib pain too! I'm 34+ with twins and all the extra weight is really putting pressure on my pelvis and hips. Some days it really gets me down as I can't sit down and lay back as babies are breach and their heads are pressing against the back now my ribs and if I sit forward to relieve pressure off my back my pelvis hurts! Little buggers haha. I've got 2.5 weeks and they will be here. They only allow u to go to 37 weeks with twins. I'm super excited to meet them but I am so looking forward to being comfortable again. Keep going that's all u can do! X

Ah bless you, double the trouble! It really is a horrible pain isn't it? I don't quite understand why not everyone gets it. I've put on about 1.5 stone so far where as my friends said they put on 4 stone??! Good luck with the next few weeks - not long now! It will be SO nice to feel comfortable again! Xx

Same here I've literally put 1.5 stones and still quite small bur uts all inside not outside. I couldnt work out why I'm suffering as i breezed theough pregnancy with my son lol I guess it's because I have 2 in there and I am a petite person it's just a lot for me. I thought was my age as I am 30 now and was 13 years ago since I was last pregnant but others my age are bouncing about and seem to be ok I think its just twins lol I have the combined baby weight of 9.5lbs in my belly at the moment! Crazy haha. Aww thanks so much and good luck to you too! Won't be long now xx

You're doing amazingly - carrying twins is hard work! (And you're still a spring chicken, I'm 42 🤯!!) xxx

I was definitely suffering pelvic pain from 16 weeks. All you can do is try and keep legs parallel - try the table top position and walking does exacerbate it. If it gets really bad request some crutches. Mine did get better but I think I’ve got new issues at 39 weeks… I’m afraid it’s not easy for many. Don’t worry too much about your iron levels, they’re likely to be at their lowest now. But just take the multi vit that has some in. When I had the height of the PGP I think I took really small steps on walking and that really helped. It hasn’t gone completely but my hip pain at night is not as nearly as bad. Hang in there.

Thank you. My PGP really eased up when the Osteopath worked wonders - I was really worried I'd need crutches. And now it has returned 5 weeks later ☹️ I already take 3 forms or iron but I'm a vegetarian and I guess pregnancy does funny things so I think the supplements they give you are 10 times stronger. Good luck for the next few weeks - you're nearly there! Xx

I was anaemic a long while back. I was given a sheet that helps you absorb iron. Unless you’re having food/drink that helps absorb it you’ll just pass it through. So… orange juice helps you absorb iron. Also white wine but of course it’s off the menu. So I’d take a tablet with some fresh orange juice and then you might find your levels rise. I took my multi vits for a while but iron caused terrible constipation so I stopped. Thank you for your wishes, I’d just like this baby out now 😂 yeah I’m suffering something at the moment as sitting is making my lower ligaments really painful to walk, until I walk and it loosens. I’m just sucking it up for now as you say it won’t be long. Apparently table top position can help and wiggling around. Hope you feel better soon

Thank-you ladies 💕 Feel better for having a little vent last night... Not all of us sail through pregnancy and glow it seems! Maybe it's just the lucky few...

Taking it easy today and have seen this as a sign to SLOW DOWN! Xxx

Girls, I’m not sure this is the right place to post this, I know you are so so grateful for your pregnancies and are also having a very hard time but…. there are a lot of ladies on here that would give their right eye to be in your position….I know I did last year, I would have taken all the pain just to be pregnant, and I’m sure you felt the same too…so just be mindful that there are people still on this awful cruel journey…..and when you desperately want to be pregnant this kind of thing hurts. I know you didn’t mean any offense, it’s just it’s a very sensitive subject 💕

Hi there. This has been posted in the pregnancy support group, which I understand to be the right place to post things like this, rather than in the main Fertility Network group?

I think this group is just for ladies who are past 6 weeks pregnant but who still need support... x

Oh I’m really sorry, I didn’t know I was receiving emails for the pregnancy support posts, I thought all I was getting were in the main fertility one. I never looked. Sorry if I caused offense. Xx

No problem at all. I'm not sure how it all works tbh with emails / if you follow someone... But I really hope I'm in the right place as I would never mean to cause offense.

Wishing you the best of luck with your journey, I know how hard it is. 💕xx
