Me again! At my 20 week scan today they also found that I have a Marginal Cord Insertion, where apparently the umbilical cord isn’t in the centre of the placenta but off to one side with marginal attachment. This has caused me to worry about all different types of things such as pre term delivery, second trimester delivery and reduced blood flow and oxygen to the baby. Of course all from Google 😂 it also states it’s more common in IVF pregnancies. Has anyone else got this or had this? And how has it impacted the baby or pregnancy?

Hi lovely, I am so sorry that you have got some worries, its so stressful when you are told you might have something that might cause something but you just don't know yet... I am in a similar position and just keep being told not to worry about it until I know I need to which is frankly a ludicrous thing to say! I worry every day.
I don't have any answers but wanted to bump this up the thread for you in case anyone else does. Sending you a huge hug x
Thanks for your lovely reply, it’s so worrying I honestly felt so jaded my husband and I are in complete shock. Our main worry is the PLSVC - the heart issue - we are hoping it’s isolated so that means there would be no other heart repercussions and it’s just an anomaly, but we won’t know until we see the fetal heart cardiologist specialist, they said we should get seen in 3-5 days. Think anything wrong with your child’s health is every parents worst nightmare it’s just heartbreaking especially more so I think when it’s been such a journey just to get pregnant in the first place x
Hopefully you get some answers soon.
Xxx
Thank you, it’s hard to feel hopeful especially when I can’t find anyone who has had the same thing happen to know the outcome also for the marginal cord insertion x
I don't have any insights to offer I'm afraid, am a few weeks behind you. But just wanted to say I'm sorry for your worry! It must be scary seeing the cardiologist, I'm hoping though that it's quite common or at least nothing too serious. Thinking of you send hoping you can find some stories of women who've gone through this and had all be ok xx
