Hi everyone, looking for some advice.
I had a scan at 32 weeks to check the placental position and they also did a growth scan. They noticed that the femur length was short. At the 20 wk scan it was at the 46th percentile, but had dropped to the 5th percentile by 32 weeks. They told me not to worry and said they’d do another scan at 36 weeks and it was probably nothing. I’d already had a cvs to rule out downs and they said that meant I needn’t worry about genetic causes and it was probably just that the leg was in a difficult position to scan. I caved this week and couldn’t stand the wait anymore, so 11 days after the nhs scan I went for a private one. The femur length is now below the 1st percentile, while the head and abdomen are still around the 50th percentile. I rang the hospital and they asked to view my scan report and then brought my scan forward to 35 weeks, next Friday, but I still haven’t been told what might be causing the problem. I’m starting to worry it might be a form of dwarfism or something wrong with my placenta. Has anyone else experienced a significant drop in femur length?
