Period during 2ww

Hi, currently in 2ww and my period started yesterday 🥺 nurses said to carry on with my progesterone tablets and wait till Tuesday for test day, has anyone experienced a period then a positive test?

Hi Siobhan, I’m sorry to hear you are going through this. I can’t say my experience with starting a period during the 2ww has been positive I’m afraid. On my first round of IVF, I started my period a couple of days before my test day. I carried on and proceeded to test and had a very faint positive which turned out to be a chemical pregnancy (early miscarriage). That said, bleeding can be possible during the 2ww - especially implantation bleeding. I would keep going until your test day and see what happens. If it hadn’t worked this time, talk to your clinic about increasing your dose of progesterone as you shouldn’t start a period whilst on the supplements. Wishing you all the best xxx

Thanks so much for replying! I have read some spotting is a good sign but it is more than spotting and as I hadn’t expected my period it was such a shock! I did read it could be due to low progesterone and thought the clinic would offer more but they maybe don’t on first round!

Clinic's will usually only offer the progesterone pessaries on a first round as they don't know how you'll respond to treatment. The first round is often seen as a 'trial run' so that changes can be made for a second round. If this round doesn't work out, I imagine they will put you on the pessaries plus an injectable progesterone next time. I hope you are doing okay, keeping everything crossed for you xxx
