Period after miscarriage

Hello everyone,

I’m new to the app - a friend recommended it saying it helped her so much when she needed it.

I had a missed miscarriage at the start of December. I’d paid for a private scan because I had a bad feeling, and I was right. Scan at 10 weeks, heart had stopped at 9.

I opted for a medical miscarriage which went as you’d expect: it was horrible. I bled so much, I fainted for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd time in my life.

The early pregnancy unit had the same answer for everything, which was ‘you’ll just know’.

Well, I still don’t know.

I bled for 5 weeks. Towards the end, it was very light but only inconsistently brown. Then I’m 99.9% sure that my period came because it was heavy and clotty. That lasted for almost 4 weeks. After almost 9 weeks of bleeding, it stopped! Hurray! But my period was due back a week again and it’s not here.

I didn’t ovulate and I’ve taken a test and I’m not pregnant.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I hate the waiting. I want so badly to try again, and the pain of losing my baby doesn’t feel as bad when I focus on trying again but I feel like my body betrayed me and I don’t know what to expect next.

Sometimes the period is a bit irregular after a miscarriage. As long as you don’t have signs of infection, smelly discharge, pain etc it’s ok to wait until the next cycle. I know the wait can be frustrating! Xx
