I need encouragement!! I’ve had NAFLD for a few years with elevated liver enzymes. I just repeated labs and they are still high. Alkaline phosphate is about 250 I think. I know that’s high!! My internist is sending me to a Gastro who sees liver patients tomorrow. Am I going to be ok?? I had a biopsy a few years ago that showed some scarring. Hope it’s not too late !!

Ann… nervous and worried
for me it took around 3 years to bring my liver enzymes back to normal levels, but I’m pretty sure i still have the underlying cause which is causing the fatty liver and it’s a life long condition which can be kept under the control only with the diet (intermittent fasting,l ow carb diet) and regular exercising (cardio and resistance training). Most important that you should feel better and if it’s the case then you are definitely on the right track! Good luck with your journey.
Now I’m scheduled for an ultrasound and a fibroscan. After seeing the doc yesterday, he said I was a Stage 3-4. Now, I’m really panicking. I guess I will know more about the scarring after tests. What I’ve read sounds pretty bad. Any more advice as to what I can do to save my liver ??
i was told during the fibroscan that i have cirrhosis!!! then i was scheduled for biopsy which didn't show even fibrosis and the anatomist even questioned why i had a biopsy since it was perfect... again most important your overall condition! I know it's scary, but most important is to stop any harm to your liver (if any) and keep monitoring the progress....if it's genetical then nothing you can do (except trying to follow the healthy lifestyle) and nobody knows how it will evolve over the time, but if it's environmental then you know what to do (actually it's the same healthy lifestyle). Good luck and don't give up!
Worry and stress will make it worst. Live your life, but live it in moderation. Listen to your liver, don't eat what makes you sick, get lots of rest. The liver digest best at rest. Lose weight, but once in a while enjoy a little something. I've been at this in stage 4 for 22 years. The most important thing is to listen. If the liver gets upset, don't do that again. And REST!!
Are you seeing a hepatologist? They should have sent you to gastro a long time ago. Do you have ascites? I have been dealing with non-alcoholic cirrhosis since 2019 and I feel great. I would be willing to share my experience with you through whatever messaging service you want. You should not have to worry unnecessarily.
I was just wondering is your cirrhosis genetic ? This seems to run in my family and I’m so upset I’ve been on Mediterranean diet For over a year. My cap score was 290 now 190 but my kPA went up to 9.9 despite no sugar no red meat no flour. I would appreciate any knowledge you have that could help me.
Everyone is going to have their own story on this. The common denominator is weight loss. Make that happen.
