Well, I had the liver biopsy. Don’t have all the info from the Gastro yet, but he relayed to my internist that I have stage 3 cirrhosis. They still don’t know why. The material I have read about this diagnosis sounds bad. Is this true?? Can i save my liver with diet?? Thanks for helping.

The liver is a complex organ and broad questions like that are not answerable by us. As a general case, if you choose a liver healthy diet, lose weight, and exercise you can do a lot to improve your situation. There are no magic answers. However, talk to your doctor specifically about your status. Cirrhosis isn't normally described as stage 3. When most doctors say stage 3 they mean stage 3 of NASH which is a stage less advanced than cirrhosis. It is important to know where you are on the path of the disease but in all cases it is still lifestyle as a key tool for you to use.

I still have no answer as to why my alkaline phosphoyase has been high for a few years even after blood tests and biopsy. I’m eating very carefully, but what do I do now?? Thanks!!
High levels are associated with a lot of medical issues, many of them are related to livers so it is not easy to tell just what is causing it but it is an issue that only a doc can really sort out. Hopefully you can work with a good hepatologist to be certain what is happening as multiple things can affect it
I have a friend that was diagnosed with late stage cirrhosis, and she says through lifestyle changes she is now less advanced and has improved.
