I was just diagnosed with high blood pressure and was prescribed Losartan 25 mg. My NASH score is F-3 S2 from a biopsy. I was also diagnosed with a reflux on my right leg (vericose veins). Is anyone taking Losartan with a NASH diagnosis? I don’t want to take anything that’s going to injure my liver.

Losartan with NASH
For those of us who suffer from a liver disease, I believe it is important that after a certain period of being on medication, for example, once 4 weeks have passed, we should have a follow-up on our liver values ALT/AST/GGT to determine if we are tolerating the medication correctly. I think this is a factor that all doctors should keep in mind. In my case, I do not tolerate Ramipril (for hypertension), and I have also tried several statins without success
I take Losartan 25 for hypertension and have not had a problem. The NIH Liver Tox database indicates there are rare incidence of raise liver enzymes usually during 1-8 weeks of beginning the therapy. I always make sure I speak with my liver specialist about the pros & cons of the drugs I’m taking. Monitoring your bloodwork is very important.
I’ve taken 35 mg losartan for several years now with my liver enzymes remaining about mid range normal.
