I have been prescribed Vasepa (icosapent ethyl) for several years now to lower my triglycerides and it has worked very well . I also know that it is a specific omega-3 fatty acid EPA and now I'm wondering what effect it may also have on my recently diagnosed fatty liver (S3) & (F3)?

Hi Boomer
Well, it is a highly refined fish oil and has just the EPA and not the DHA that is present in the oil. My understanding is that DHA reduces steatosis as does EPA but they do it in different ways. I don't know what the effect of just taking EPA would be. It lowers triglyceride well but that is just one issue. It should be beneficial but my bias is to use the natural product which is much cheaper but a question for your doc.
