So after my fatty liver issue my dad decided to get his tested

The strangest thing is he doesn’t have fatty liver, no NASH, all his levels are ok except he has 0.49 Fibrosis. This test was done with blood work only. What does this mean, is it just an old Fibrosis? I’m not sure what to recommend him for a diet since he’s already about 30 pounds lighter than me. He did drink a lot years ago, but that’s been about 10+ years now. My guess is it’s just left over damage from the alcohol?

What test was used to determine that? There are different scales, but if he once was a heavy drinker that may be the explanation

It was the Fibrosure. It puts him at F2 Fibrosis with few septs according to the lab work. I’m wondering if there’s anything he can do about that or just don’t do anything crazy to worsen it.

If it was alcohol related and he quit, he is likely stable and the only strategy is to have a lifestyle that doesn't trigger it to flare up again. Over time, years, he may be able to reduce it if he is careful with lifestyle. The caution is that you want to be sure it isn't increasing so testing again in a year to see where he is would be wise. You can tell him he dodged a bullet when he quit drinking.

Yeah he quit drinking and doesn’t really do anything crazy anymore. I let him know, and will remind him to get it tested yearly. We don’t have a prior reference point, so no clue how much worse it was before.
