need insight on fatty liver, for me ... - Living with Fatty...
need insight on fatty liver, for me an my dad. Also for me to understand more about his situation.
Hi Alpha Omega I was diagnosed with fatty liver due to pain in my rib cage, in my late 40's. I got conflicting stories by my doctors so I was sent to a Gastroenterologist there I was first diagnosed with enlarged liver due to fatty liver then after ultrasound then future testing and a more blood liver testings said NASH. The nurse first called me and said stop drinking alcohol immediately. I don't drink! They all said there is no treatment for either disease so to make sure my liver stayed the same size. I read articles and tried different options. I am not severely overweight but I did lose 20 pounds and found out my liver is toxic to sugar, processed foods, so I changed my totally thinking of eating no soda but water lots of water I use the water time pro app (free) and I am very careful and study any prescription or over the counter medications as all have some type of reaction with your liver. I went to see my Gastro doctor I finally found a great doctor!! This is your life so find the right doctor is so important I also went on a Ketosis diet this last year and have been taking a Standard Process supplement Chromium. I eat great and I watch my sugar content organic stevia is my sweetener now when I buy anything in the store I am now a Label Reader and conscious of what I put in mouth because everything goes through your liver I was at doctor in October and my liver didn't increase in size and she said keep what you are doing. I hope this helps both of you!
Unfortunately, the only remedy there is for fatty liver is life style change. Fatty liver can be reversed..
Eat clean and healthy, lean meats, fresh fruits and veggies. Avoid simple carbs or limit them, no added sugar. Reading labels is a must at the grocery store. If not already, get down to a healthy weight. Excersise, even if it's just walking 30 minutes a day. If he drinks alcohol, he needs to stop. All these things can help him reverse his fatty liver.
Lose weight - follow a diet of vegetables, fruits, salmon, chicken & lean beef. No soda, No alcohol, no cakes, cookies or candy for awhile & see how it goes. Blood tests should tell if improving. I did it for 90 days. Just starting to eat some normal foods. Guess what? I got sick on pork & cookies, things I always ate before
Good luck. I'm still fighting.
