No never heard of casror oil but I was told to take a cup of olive oil daily, did for 2 months then my liver dr. Said No do not do this, I was so glad at that time. RON
Did your doc explain his advice about olive oil? There always seem to be opposite points of view about everything but most opinion supports olive oil I think. Individual circumstances that only your doc knows may explain it of course.
Yes my liver dr. was totally against this for me and my concerns.but thank you for your thoughts, everyone is different and have so many different doctors in these fields. After taking that straight for so long, turned me off from even cooking with it. I use coconut oil all the time, recommended and a much cleaner & lighter oil.
Thanks for the note. There is no one size fits all and there is an interesting difference between coconut and olive oil. The coconut oil can be absorbed directly into the blood stream from the bowel. All of the heavier oils, like olive oil, enter the body through the lymph system and bypass the liver on their first pass through the circulation so coconut gets to the liver quicker. Depending on bowel/lymph function this can be an important detail for some people I imagine.
I read that coconut oil is far more inflammatory than olive or avocado.
Thanks for your participation, oversight, not very good and objective input and advice.
In regards to Coconut oil, does it help with bowel movement? I had my gallbladder removed after it ruptured. The infection from the gallbladder spread to my liver, lungs, and GI tract.
I spent over 3 weeks in the hospital with 104 fever, distended abdomen, and eventually encephalopathy from 10 days or so without a bowel movement.
Two years later, I was experiencing pain in the abdomen-liver area, fatigue, aches, pains, cognitive distortion, …
My PCP monitored my exhaustive list of labs monthly or more often if needed.
My LFT’s were normal, no physical signs of liver disease other than the fatigue, and pain.
A biopsy revealed autoimmune hepatitis, NASH, and NAFLD.
My initial Fibroscan was maxed out and was told I had stage 4 cirrhosis, yet all LFT’s remained normal.
Exercise- weights, running, tennis, saunas, etc and a Clean Keto, and numerous supplements, resulted in 65lbs weight loss, improved labs, LFTs still normal but improved. And a 5 year consistent decline in Fibroscan score from max 75 to 11.7.
Seven years later my Fibroscan scores remain at all time lowest levels , LFTs normal and other than fatigue, exhaustion, constipation,
I did take olive oil with fresh squeezed lemon juice first thing in the morning and evenings.
Constipation remain a big challenge as does fatigue. Does coconut oil help in digestive health issues/constipation, and other benefits? Is taking both olive oil and coconut oil provide added health benefits?
Thank you for what you do for those of us who benefit from your knowledge and experience.
That is a treatment proposed by the spiritualist Edgar Cayce and naturopaths write about it. The only study I saw in a quick search had to do with constipation

As far as I know there isn't any good research for it but you should talk to your doctor. It is absorbed through the skin so it will have to be managed by your liver as an oil so I'd be cautious if you are already having liver problems.
I haven’t heard of that, but I did hear about intravenous alpha lapoic acid (not sure about spelling) completely curing death bed liver patients. There was a study done (not sure if I read about it or watched a documentary on it) but this Dr completely cured 84/89 patients that were within weeks of death due to liver disease. This same Dr (can’t remember name) was asked to tell his story at a conference of medical doctors and afterwards was basically told that there was no money to be made with this like there is with transplants so it wasn’t likely to be done here unless the country was bankrupt.
