Fibroscan score

I recently had a fibroscan and the results were F2-F3, but then stated I had mild to moderate fibrosis. According to the Medivar score card F2/F3 is moderate to severe fibrosis. I am confused about the scoring and comment. I also had an alt of over 1000 and ast over 800, but recent test had the ast in normal range and alt at 150.

It is not always but elevated liver enzymes (AST, ALT) can ovestimate your fibrosis score because of inflammation. Please check this with your hepatologist. I think it is a not bad ideae to repeat fibroscan when your LFT are in normal range.

Hi MaxIn the lower ranges of fibrosis there is a lot of overlap in the scoring of FibroScan readings and they publish different scales for different causes of disease so it is fairly imprecise with early stage disease. The important thing is that it is good at detecting advanced fibrosis so in that sense good news. Inflammation also raises that score so you were having a lot of that with enzyme scores that high. It should be taken as fair warning that you are at risk but you likely don't have a lot of scarring so a manageable situation.
