Is it liver cancer?

I was diagnosed with fatty liver about 7 years ago after a surgery I had unrelated. I started to itch really bad and had constant nausea. I had a blood test done and my liver enzymes were elevated so I had some scans done and they saw I had fatty liver. I then was having g severe pain and it turned out my gallbladder was bad so I had it removed. That was about 5 yrs ago. Now the past few days I have had a mild dull pain in the upper right quadrant and also burning in the middle of my stomach. I went to the Dr today for blood and I will not know anything for a few days but I have convinced myself that I have liver cancer. My dad passed away from it and it is something i have been terrified about for a long time and now I feel my fears are coming true. Has anyone had these symptoms but it turned out to be ok. I just need some hope.

Hi Ceeann

Well, those wouldn't be likely symptoms of liver cancer if that helps. You should get an ultrasound as that is the way they look for tumors. Talk with your doctors about NASH which is the name for fatty liver disease that has caused liver damage and scarring. As part of figuring out your symptoms they should do the ultrasound. The right quadrant pain is commonly a symptom of an unhappy liver rather than cancer.

Thanks so much. Also do you know where is pain associated with liver cancer?

The liver itself has no pain nerves so until it metastasizes to some other random part of the body there usually isn't much pain.

I participate with a low carb diet 30 to 50 carbs a day helps my nash, lost 50lbs and now back to diet and trying to loose 65lbs more.

I think you should talk to your doctor about alternative medicine. I had upper right quadrant pains and I found that milk thistle helped with the pain. However, if you are taking HRT, it's probably not a good idea, as milk thistle may have estrogenic like effect.

I’ve had right quadrant pain for the last two years, right after losing 50 lbs and continuing to exercise everyday. During that timeframe I’ve had 2 Elastoraphy, 2 MRIs of the abdomen region, one Fibroscan, and one Fibrotest. Past results have been no Fibrosis, no fat. I do have liver cysts and of course anxiety.
