Covid vaccine

I’m in Australia and we have been able to manage Covid outbreaks here. An outbreak for us is about 20 cases. We ar being offered the Astra Vevica vac for over 50s. Known side affects are blood clots - very rare. And it’s 65% effective. I’m a bit worried!! Does having NAFD pose any great risks or is it riskier not having a vaccine

Hi, I am also from Australia. If you are 60 or under you can get the Pfizer vaccine. However, depending what State of Australia you live in there could be short supplies. I just registered this morning to get my vaccine through the Hospital. They will send me an email when they have appointments available. I am getting Pfizer. I have another family member that is over 60 and has had a blood clot in the past. He is concerned about having Astrazenica which they are pushing here for over 60's. He is going to have a discussion with his GP to get Pfizer. I work in the Health Industry. A lot of elderly people I have spoken to have had the Astrazenica without any major problems. I would suggest an in-depth discussion with your GP re: your concerns prior to getting the jab. Good luck with your decision.😊

I’m 65. I just haven’t taken so much as a Panadol since I was diagnosed 2 years ago!!! I have also had a blood clot. But Im feeling pressured from friends who have had their vaccine. I’m starting to feel like a leper.

I know I feel for you. It is the fear of the unknown. And the fact that we have been very lucky in Australia compared to other parts of the world with COVID. Not many cases. My sister and husband are both nearly 70. They are getting the jab this week. My other family relatives who are over 70 have had the vaccine and have all been ok. I would definitely suggest talking to your GP re: any concerns!!

If you look at the side effect tracking data, where medical professionals are obliged to record all medical issues arrising after a patient has been given a new to market medication whether or not a causal link has been established, you see thousands of medical problems recorded, as one would expect.

The data for both Pfizer and AZ vaccines, shows blood clots. However, for what seems like political reasons, it seems only those reported for the AZ vaccine have been seized upon and propagated by the media.

This has created global anxiety for use of the AZ vaccine that is unfounded. This is very dangerous indeed.

Thanks Dotti. I’m going to use that response about not being a threat to them. Lol

I'm 65, live in the US and I've had NASH for 20 years. I'm in stage 3/4 fibrosis. I took the J J Vaccine as the doctor said I would not live through getting the disease. I felt a little weird after and I did swell, but was fine the 2nd day.

Just an update - im having the vac on Wednesday. Astra V. I have decided The reasons for having it out way the reasons for not getting it.

It will protect you from serious illness. Those who have been vaccinated around a person who has not can still pass on the virus. I wish people would deal in facts

Now see the full report from the MHRA which quite clearly states that MHRA yellow card reports do not prove causality. gov.uk/government/publicati...
