Hi there my cap was 300 but pka 4.7. It seems I have greater than 60% fat in my liver but my ultrasound showed a normal liver with no fat?? How can this be? Alt and ast are often high? Over 60% seems hard to miss on an ultrasound.

Cap 300??
Hi Helli, I am new to nash so take my words with a grain of salt.
I had cap 330 and an ultrasound of my liver is enough to generate clarity for someone to read a book at night.
So yeah, the fibroscan might have exhagerated your CAP.
(But again, I am a NASH newbie).
Yeah it seemed really strange that my ultrasound was normal. How did you get the diagnosis of NASH? Do you have a lot of of fibrosis or high PKA?
3.1 pka... so far no fibrosis. Im fighting to keep it that way.
Ah, very good. Do you know if my pka of 4.9 (accidentally typed 4.7 previously) also means no fibrosis? It appears that way when I read about the test? How come they diagnosed you with NaSH versus NAFLD? Oh one more question how high did you alt and ast get?
According to the scale that i have in my report, 4.7 is either f0 or f0-f1 (very light scarring). The difference between nash and nafld was unclear to me also... the liver enzymes where high at the time i detected the problem, but went to normal range a couple of months after weight loss, no alcohol and the usual mambo jambo for liver disease...
Got it. Did you ever get over 100 on the enzymes. My alt spiked one in the 200s b after weight loss has been in the 50s and 60s oh and what is the range for f0-f1? If you have ti handy
The range changes slightly depending on the liver issue (in my report there is one scale for hep c, another scale for nash/nafld, another for alcohol and so on...) But in all of them, anything below 6.5 is considered f0-f1. I suppose the hepatologist looked at the blood work to tell me that i m at f0...
Also, i dont recall exactly which enzyme i had that was over 100, but there was something... in the end, they all dropped to the regular range after life style changes. I recently started taking escitalopram for anxiety though. Will have them enzymes checked again pretty soon.
Hallo, me too have 370 CAP and 7 KPA. But my AST and ALT all the time within normal range. I do not know wht I should do ? Waiting for mein next visit to my Dr. wht the Doctor told you . How to reverse the CAP !!
What made them send you for the fibroscan if your liver enzymes are normal?
My story is full of twist as well. My health is was not good from last 6 months i had indigestion, heaviness of right side, Pain sometime referring to back and right shoulder. Here is how my test was done, 1. Heliobacteria test - Negative
2. Ultra sound Fatty liver - Doctor said not to worry.
3. ALT and AST Normal.
4. Breath test for Small Intestine - Normal
5. Stomach Endoscopy - Mild Chronic gastritis.
Still for several month post medicine didn't fully recover.
6. CA19.9 - Negative for Pancreatic Cancer
7. FibroScan - CAP 100 and Fibroscore 10.2 Suggesting F3. This scare the hell out of me.
8. Saw nash2 post who was right in saying that my Fibroscan was not right. Then i travelled to my home country,
9 Second Fibro Scan - CAP 292 and Fibroscore 5.5.
Doctor said all well as my Liver Panel test and other indicator are all normal. I said that my life style is ok and i do exercise. He suggested that i should do HBa1c , Uric Acid and Lipid test to see my metabolic aspect if that is what is creating fatty liver despite good diet.
This doesn't mean i don't have issue, but with good doctor and forum like these have helped me conclude what my issues is i.e. gastritis and Fatty liver. I lost 10kg in last 5 months with diet only and doctor said loose another 5-6 Kg and i should be fine. I am 6ft 83 kg now.
Bottom line is we would live as long as God permits, but we should value the body he has given us and don't abuse it. Even if we have issue we should never loose hope as a lot of people are living with more serious condition by staying positive. Forum like these are great help to humanity and God bless people running the show.
Interesting to see how the fibroscans can be so different. My doctor said lots of people have mild gastritis and it is nothing to worry about. I hope yours said that as well.
He didn't relate my gasteritis with Fatty liver, yet i saw an article online which suggested a correlation.
