Hello...I am new here. I have been experiencing right side pain for about the past year. It started out sporadic but had become pretty much constant about 3 weeks ago. I went to my doc and they checked labs. From there the doc recommended an ultrasound. According to the ultrasound, the doc claims that I have a fatty liver which according to her is very common. She placed me on Omeprazole for the pain and I am too let her know at the beginning of the week if it helps with the pain. If not then I will have a CT. The Omeprazole helps for about 12 hours but then the pain returns. My question is does having pain mean that the fatty liver is advanced? I have also been having other symptoms such as fat in my stools, tingling pain in my right shoulder blade (which has been going on for over a year), and constant bloat. Thank you for your help!

I have had the right sided pain just under the last rib and my Dr. put me onto Enteric coated Peppermint capsules. Taken half an hour before food or on an empty stomach they have been 100% in stopping the soreness/pain.
They have to be the enteric coated capsule as I found the other non enteric capsules of no benefit in any way.
You may need to try different ones as some I found were not as soothing as others , probably the enteric coating was not as viable.
mintec is an often prescribed one but its a bit dearer than the rest.

I havent had any of your other symptoms so no use to you there.
Hi
Sorry you aren't feeling well.
5 years ago a consultant said my pain was muscular!! forward 2 years, ultrasound said bit of fat on your liver. Dr referred me to gastro. Went private for diagnosis which went against the grain!! Diagnosed with nafld caused by meds from my Drs over the years!! Consultant said you've spent enough come back on NHS and I will take you on. HD biopsy in the November, diagnosed with Nash with fibrosis!! If they'd done the more expensive test first then they would have saved money in the long run!! I think I've remembered everything,my memory is terrible. If someone reads this and says I missed something out when I was replying to someone,I genuinely just can't always remember everything. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Thank you for your response. I am sorry that it took so long for a diagnosis for you and that they did not catch it sooner. I am praying for you and I believe in God's healing through prayer. ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words. Please take care of yourself Lynne
Your primary doctor is moving too slowly. Have your primary care doctor refer you to a gastroenterologist or liver specialist immediately . Symptoms and outcomes vary widely with liver disease.. In March 2019, I collapsed on the bathroom floor, fell into shock, and spent 3 mo.in the hospital getting my system uh under control. Recovery is continuing now with a longer term forecast.A very supportive family& great medical team got on the path to recovery. YOU CAN HAVE THE SAME!!GOOD LUCK!!!You'll need good medical insurance.
My primary care physician noticed elevated liver enzymes during a routine physical. She told me to limit my salt and eat only steamed vegetables, with fish every once in a while until I could be diagnosed. She also said get 30 to 45 minutes aerobic exercise a day. She ordered an ultrasound and CT scan with contrast, and referred me to a hepatologist. It took 5 or 6 weeks for me to be diagnosed. I appreciate her proactive approach.
Hi,
I was diagnosed last week with non alcoholic fatty liver. I just needed some clarification...are you to eat only steamed vegetables 3x a day with fish once in a while? Are you able to eat any other type of protein or fruit?

The steamed veggies and occasional serving of fish was only until I was properly diagnosed by a hepatologist. Mt internist knew something was wrong but not what and didn't want to do more damage. Steamed veggies seemed the safest bet. As for how much .... it was 4 cups of steamed vegetables seasoned with herbs and spices but no salt, 3 to 5 times a day and a serving of fish once every few days.
I love to hear how proactive everyone is being. Like so many others, my first hospitalization was getting paracentesis. I was cycling the day before. The lab work and scans are vital to diagnosis. I lived in a rural area on the lake and my kindly country doctor missed it all. All the advice here about diet and exercise are good, but too much cardio needs to be ordered by a doctor. I was doing too much. Omaprazole is helpful, did you have an endoscopy? I’d want my doctor to take a peek. All Best to you. XO
Im quite similar. Fatty liver and slight inflammation and shoulder pain.
I am in the same boat but newly diagnosed. Was your diagnosis advanced? I am so scared.
