Liver test

TiredofbeingTired06 profile image

The liver is enlarged measures up to 17.72 cm greatest diameter and demonstrates a slightly coarsened and increased echotexture. The intrahepatic bile ducts do not appear dilated.

The common bile duct measures up to 0.56 cm in diameter.

How bad is this?

And this The urinary bladder is incompletely distended. I don't see my doctor till next Friday, But got the test by the medical portal.

Why do you torture yourself? It's never a good idea to get your lab results before the doctor has a chance to review them with you. Always time afterward to digest what they say and get additional knowledge. All your getting for now is a bunch of mean-well non-medical professionals (like myself) while you sit there and worry for the next week.

The sad thing is my GI doctor runs test and never meets with me to discuss any results. Then when I ask questions via the patient portal I’m sent something to transfer my records. So sad but I didn’t fit the parameters for his NAFLD testing. So glad I’ve found this site as sometimes Dr Google can really give crazy advice. Thanks guys

Sounds like you need a new doctor, one who can spend more than 5 minutes with you; one who doesn't hand you off to the PA. After all, they are billing as a specialist (assuming you're not talking about your GP) and they are getting paid a premium for their time. This site is good to create awareness and provide further education. But it's really not meant to take the place of a good doctor. It's good that we're taking an active role here. No doctor can cover everything. Even my liver doctor didn't know about the Paris Conference last week. And he's REALLY good.

I know I do need a new doctor. So do I do another GI doctor, Internal medicine or a doctor who specializes in the liver?

You are so right! Sometimes patient portals are not so good to look at your test.
