Hey guys. It’s been a while since i posted on this site. If you look at my previous post, you will see that I have reversed NAFLD last year. This year I gained 30LBs and my liver enzymes went high again recently . But again with proper diet and exercise, I was able to bring it down to normal range. My ALT was 66 and after a month it went back to 17. Please read below as to how you can reeverse or bring your liver enzymes back to normal in a month. However, you had to be dedicated to this plan.

First and foremost, the idea is to have low carb diet and high protein. We all know carbs turns into glucose and is not good for your fatty liver so stay away from carbs at all cost. Basically if your weight is 160Lb then I would say that keep the proteins to 160g, fats 25g and carbs 50g. If you can eat 25g of carbs every day it is even much better. Also, I recommend using some macro app like myfitness pal yo calculate your calories. If you don’t track, you won’t know how much grams of proteins, carbs are you consuming.

Now in terms of food please see below protein options :

1. chicken

2. Wild salmon

3. Greek yogurt plain no sugar

4. Peanut butter

5. Hemp seeds

6. Egg whites

Carbs:

1. Vegetables any kind preferably brocolli

2. Wheat bread (1 slice daily)

3. Fruits organic minimum low sugar ( strawberries is my favorite)

Fats:

1. Almonds or pistachios

2. Avacado oil

Now I know there might be tons of other options for proteins, carbs but this is what worked for me. What we need is carbs food that basically has zero sugar. Also, once a week, you can do one cheat meal and eat what you like. Remember it’s just one cheat meal not a full day. Eat what you crave for

One additional thing I would like to mention is that if you can mix raw egg whites in a blender with almond milk and drink at night before sleep would be great. What I came to know is that raw egg whites have lots of choline which is very beneficial of removing excessive fat from the liver. So DO TRY THIS OUT.

I would also recommend one fish oil and one multivitamin tablet in the morning if possible. I also would recommend getting creative supplement and mix with water once a day also. When you wake up in the morning, warm up an 8oz of water and mix lemon and a TSP of apple cider and drink it in the morning on empty stomach. This will help in loosing weight also.

Lastly, you should track your weight every morning when you wake up. Basically when you wake up on the morning, go to the bathroom and do your usual thing and then weigh yourself. Make sure not to drink or eat anything before doing the weight. Make a diary and just track your weight loss progress. Usually you should be loosing 2lb a week or 1.5.

Also, I would recommend doing some strength exercises also. There have been a lot of research done that strength exercises is also helpful in reducing the fat in the liver.

I can gain weight anytime and when my enzymes goes up, I can always diet and bring those things back to normal. So do try it out guys. It’s hard the first week but then it becomes your regular routine.

Congratulations. My issue is that I only need to lose fat from the liver but not from other parts of the body. I was told not to lose additional way but then how do I reduce the fat in the liver. Last Fibroscan CAP score was 230 which means I am at the top of the lowest level.

Its great that you dont need to lose weight so just stick to healthy foods and my consultant insists that I do not follow a low carb diet but just eat carbs as everything in moderation but always making sure they are not refined carbs so avoid things like white pasta, white rice and especially white bread. Try to avoid sugar, alcohol and red meat as these are like poisons to the liver as they make it work so hard - eat some healthy fats as above nut and avocados are great but even just good old extra virgin olive oil is good and then last but definitely not least do some exercise which can even consist of a gentle walk if you are not used to anything else and more if you are. Rest and relax as a lot of people forget that stress and anxiety are also very bad for the liver. Good luck!

Exercise to include resistance training I have covered. I’m also pretty good with diet. I’m hypothyroid and health anxiety stress is my main issue.

Yes stress has been my main problem throughout my life too but am trying to combat it by removing myself from stressful situations and trying gentle yoga which has helped quite a bit. Ive been strong with myself and am for the first time in my life concentrating on myself and not everyone else (well almost anyway 😂😂😂). It sounds like you are doing all the right things just get them to check you out regularly and hopefully all will be ok. Good luck with everything I wish you well 🙏🏻💕

I have never heard the phrase “health anxiety “ issues but I definitely have this exhausting condition with two autoimmune issues including Hashimoto’s, a voice disorder and chronic venous issues. It seems I have at least two doctor’s appointments a week and am constantly on the edge of my seat waiting nervously gor test results.

Catz is right. Losing weight is one part of this, but WHAT you eat is just as important. You need to follow either a mediterranean or plant-based diet. Your protein needs to come primarily from plants (or a little fish), not from other animal sources. The mantra is , get rid of "meats and sweets". Be creative. There are games you can play. Want a hamburger? Burger-FI has amazing veg burgers and beyond meat plant based ones. Want a hot dog? IKEA of all people sells amazing plant based hot dogs. Want Italian? You can make amazing bolognese easily with mushrooms instead of beef. And don't ever forget the lemon water (as someone mentioned here). The water cleans your blood every morning so your liver doesn't wake up to a mess.....

All done. I’ve been on 75% plant based diet for over a year. At one time I used Whey Protein in my morning shakes, just switched to pea protein and I’ve eliminated a lot of burping and GERD issues.

Unfortunately, I was told that lifestyle changes work for 80% of people, the rest of us are just out of luck.

Hi Lei! I agree! I’m on strict liver diet for about 4 months now and no change since. On the contrary, the situation is steadily if slowly worsening. There is nothing I can do more. Bad luck!

So lemon water with the apple cider vinegar?

Either or. I've heard positive things about both. But if you do ACV, make sure you do something like Braggs, which is the one with the cloudy "mother" in the liquid. It's much better. Google it. You should be able to buy it in any supermarket.
