I have read that you should drink hot water with juice from half a lemon first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to help your liver, but, I also read green tea is good. Appreciate your thoughts on this, thanks.

I imagine most of the votes would be for the green tea which has clear health benefits.

Do you drink it on an empty stomach?

Personally I drink a large glass of hot water as the first thing I do when I get up in the morning. I do it to stay hydrated.

Your liver does like green tea and it also helps burn fat while you sleep. For detox, I personally use a product from Bragg's that is pre-mixed and you find in the supermarket in the vinegar section right next to the regular Bragg's. It's Bragg's Detox. It combines their apple cider vinegar with lemon and a little honey. It tastes good and you only need an ounce or so first thing. Then i have my black coffee (or tea). Someone put it best this way: Your liver wakes up hours before you do and 'vacuums the carpet' meaning cleans the blood and gets all the trash and puts it by the curb for pickup. When you wake up, drinking the detox is like the trash truck picking the trash up, as in your body, you flush it out through urination. If you don't detox, the trash doesn't get picked up and gets reabsorbed into the liver "the trash stays by the curb". It's a cool analogy.
