Will Doctors Prescribe Pioglitazone (Actos)For NASH

I having no luck getting any physician to prescribe Actos for NASH and wondering the response others have received. I keep getting that Actos really isn’t prescribe anymore, too risky, or they just don’t believe in providing any medicines for NASH.

Tough question. There is some evidence that pioglitazone can be helpful for NASH in some people but there have been issues with it over the years. Some hepatologists do use it for some patients depending on T2D status and other metabolic considerations but there isn't general agreement about it. Here is an article that discusses it a bit.
