AIH and NASH

Can anyone share what was your smooth muscle antibody titre value when diagnosed with AIH

Mine is 1:100

Dr says it might be due to NASH not because of AIH

Hi Rachi

Well, your doc is probably correct, and there is probably some reason for making that observation so it is a good question to be asking. Typically a value above 1:40 would be seen as a sign of autoimmune issues so it sounds like you need further testing to really determine your status. That is important because we can treat autoimmune but there are no therapies for NASH yet.

Well I'm from india

All these came out when I went for fertility screening

AIH is very rare

Really scared

Planned for percutaneous liver biopsy tomorrow

The biopsy is scary as is worrying about the disease. I've had 3 biopsies and don't want another but they don't scare me anymore. Hopefully you don't need to get more than one. The good news, for AIH it is a good way to be sure about the diagnosis. AIH often has distinct markers in the slide and unlike NASH, for example, AIH has treatments. Good luck with your test. Try to relax a little.
